Chapter 46 - Choices

On a pleasant morning, Artemis laid on the rooftop and enjoyed the spectacle going on. One of the human was sitting and drinking his tea whist the other ran around the house. To a humans eye she would not be visible. So the little humans did not have any clue that she was being observed.

'I already gave her super speed.... why is she training to run?' she thought, holding onto her chin. "Humans.... they have a weird way of expressing themselves," she mumbled to herself and bit into a fruity delicacy. It was a gummy treat that was rolled up in a wheel. It was tangy and sweet, just right for her taste buds.

"You are still here," a voice whispered behind her. It was best to find Aphrodite. She was disembarking her chariot and walking over to her in her graceful gait. She had her eyes stuck on a small painting of Helios in her hand.

Throwing a casual glance at her love struck friend, Aphrodite, she whispered, "Found Helios yet?"

"Not yet," Aphrodite sighed and plopped down. She too took a piece of the colorful treat and chewed on it loudly. "I can't believe he's hiding from me. Like, am I undesirable or something?"

Artemis snorted. "Most likely not," her best friend was considered the most beautiful deity of all. Men swoon at just the sight of shiny blond hair, and yet an exiled god had rejected her. If it had been the ancient times, this would have been the scandal of the century.

Aphrodite sighed again. "I have been searching for days to no end. Where did he disappear off to?" she whined as she plucked the entire roll off of her hands.

"Hey, that's mine!," Artemis went to get it back, but she had already eaten it all. "You owe me this fruity treat, or whatever they call it,"

"It's a 'fruit roll-up'" Her friend corrected.

Artemis rolled her eyes and continued observing the humans.

"What are you watching so eagerly? Humans? I thought you hated them," Aphrodite whispered in shock.

Artemis glanced at her once more with her eyes narrowed. "I am averse to them..... yet.... this girl, she has caught my attention," She pointed to the little human who was running whist flaying her hands around.

"What....is she doing? is that even called a run?"

"I'm not sure either. I mean, I gave her super speed yet she is flaying around like a clumsy little chick," Artemis exclaimed.

Hearing this, the blond goddess sat up. "You..... gave her powers!!! What in the Goddess name were you thinking," She exclaimed.

As ancient goddesses, they all had the powers to grant wishes, yet they also possess the power to have an apprentice. A trainee god, to be exact. But one god can only have one apprentice their entire lifetime, so none of the gods and goddesses chose in haste.

Yet.....

"Do you think she is worth it?" Aphrodite whispered to her silent friend.

Artemis sat up and patted all the sugar from her hands. "She is more than worth it. Her soul..... its different from anything I've seen before," she whispered as she peered at the little human.

The moment she met her, she knew..... that this little human was meant for great things. Her kindness was what attracted her the most yet... as she shadowed the human girl around, Artemis got to know more about her wonderful qualities.

"She will be a part of the newest gods in just years. I'm sure of it," Art whispered. "By the way, are the arenas prepared?"

This time it was Aphrodite who sighed. She sat down again and held her chin. "Yes, almost. But I hate it! Why do we have to choose human apprentices? I don't want to!" she whined.

Art glanced at her and chuckled. "It's not up to us Aphro," They were given an ultimatum to choose a human apprentice as soon as they can. As for the reason why… no one except the three great gods knows about it.

"Is that why you chose this kid in haste?" Aphrodite whispered.

"I never do anything in haste. I made the decision wisely," Art replied back. It was the moment the girl helped her heal that she decided to choose this little human girl.

Artemis got u and patted all the sugar from her, fluttering her skirt. "Anyway, its time. Let's go back,"

"Wait! Why are you even putting her up for the test of you have already chosen her?" Aphrodite shouted after her.

"Why not? I want her to become a goddess on her own. And besides, this kid does not need my help," Artemis chuckled and walked away.
