Chapter 16 - Blue veins

"You are completely healed!" Her mother exclaimed pulling her face closer to her face. She squeezed and pulled at her cheeks to confirm her conviction.

"Mum yu are squishing my face," Reya said pulling her hands away. "And what do you mean 'you are healed'?" she whispered holding her hands.

Mumma Jade chuckled with tears in her eyes. "You are completely healed Reya. Look," she said touching her face all over. "and it's really smooth, like butter." She was gaping with her eyes wide glancing at her face.

Reya leaned back a little avoiding her probing hands. "Mom, stop touching my face," she said pulling her face away.

A small clack sounded as a bowl crashed onto the floor. Mr. Kooper was gaping at her with hot noodles all over his lap.

"I…I knew it! You do have superpowers," Mr.Kooper exclaimed, standing up at his spot. He even threw an air fist into the air.

Reya slightly touched her face to find it smooth all over. "I really might," she whispered slowly as realization hit her.

"I told you so! Oh my god this is so awesome," Mr.Kooper exclaimed rushing close to her. "Oh my god, first you had that super speed thing like 'Flash', but now you can heal. This is mind blowing," he kneeled next to her.

He looked quite like a fanatic or a crazy fan boy who reads comics every day. 'Even his eyes are shining like a manga character,' Reya thought as she moved a little further away from him.

"How do you do that? Would you be able to do that again?" he whispered with an exited face. His breath huffed onto her face. Reyya cringed a little.

"Okay, cool down your horses," Momma Jade pushed his face away from her. "Last time you said the same thing, and things didn't end up as planned,"

"But we...." he started.

"No means no. I am not going to allow you to test any of her powers. Not now, not ever." Her mum firmly refused his puppy eyes.

Grown man like Mr. Kooper started pouting. "But last time we..."

"Last time was a made the mistake. And I do not plan to repeat it," her mom refused firmly. "Now get up old man it's time for you to sleep," Momma Jade said pulling him up by his hands.

"Wait did you just call me old," he mumbled looking at her mum.

Rolling her eyes she corrected, "Okay young man, go to sleep,"

He laughed out loud and let her pull him up. "But I am not young, I am already 45," he said pouting a little.

"Which one do you prefer then? Old or young," Momma Jade mumbled pushing him forward.

"I would prefer to be called by my name, Mark," he whispered glancing at her mom with a smirk.

Reya saw her mumma's face redden at this remark, 'OMG, is she blushing?' she wondered with her eyes wide in shock.

"Yes," Jade whispered fiddling with her hair.

'Love is in the air,' Reya winked at her little sister and she winked back at her with a small smirk on her face. Reya chuckled a little, children nowadays know more about relationship than them adults. With this silly notion she shook her head a little.

'Looks like we are going to have a new dad soon,'

The feeling of having someone there to protect them and support them sounded good.

She touched her smooth face again. 'Maybe I should learn how to harness this,' she glanced back at cheerful Mr.Kooper and her laughing mother. 'To protect my family I have to,'

"Okay girls, it's time to sleep," her mom whispered pushing another duvet our way. Mina rushed up and hugged her. "Let's get some shut eye, dear," she whispered hugging her close.

"Okey," she nodded into her bosom.

Both of them settled down into a small duvet they found in one of the ruined buildings. They both cuddled together.

"Reya," Mina whispered from inside the duvet.

"What is it?" she whispered back.

"I think I have powers too," she whispered with a toothy grin.

"How do you know?" Reya whispered, getting her head inside the duvet.

"See this," she whispered and held her hands. A warm glow radiated from her fingers and spread into her veins. Her entire nervous system started glowing blue.

"Oh my god, Mina, When did you know? How did that happen?" Reya whispered, pulling her close.

"It was near that crater. It was calling to me. Later when fainted, I felt a small surge of power inside of me," she whispered pulling at her top in nervousness.

"Did that heal you?" Reya whispered, pulling her closer.

"Yes it is healing me. But that angel said it will only protect me for three years," just after saying this. Her eyes widened and started tearing up.

Reya held her hand and softly caressed her face. "What is it, Mina? It's okay I am here," she whispered holding her face in her hands.

"She told me not to tell anyone," she whimpered and started tearing up.

Reya make a fake action of shutting her ears. "It's okay. I didn't hear anything. See my ears are blocked," she whispered pulling her up towards her bosom.

"You didn't?" she questioned with a doubtful look.

"Yes I didn't," Reya whispered back with a small smile. She settled down after that and went to sleep.

'Angel, huh? What does it have to do with super powers? How was the crater related to my sister?'

Questions swarmed her head as she held her sleeping sister close.

'Whatever these powers are, I hope they don't bring harm to anyone,'
