"I... I want moon," Mina muffled voice came from her mother's shoulders.
"What honey? What is it?" Momma Jade cooed, patting her back slightly.
Mina lifted her face from her mom's shoulders and said, "I want the moon." She pointed towards the celestial rock.
"Honey, that rock looks hot, why don't we play with the prism now," she lightly jiggled Mina in her hold. "Oh, here it is," she said as she held out the prism from her backpack.
"Honey, look, it creates a rainbow!" Momma Jade exclaimed, holding the prism in her hands.
Mina shook her head pouting and said, "I want the moon, not prism." Mina firmly shook her head and refused to take the prism in her hands.
"Mina dear, didn't you love this? Look, it even creates Vibjor," Reya tried convincing her pouting sister.
"NO! I only want the moon," she screamed, pushing the prism away. "I want moon. I want the moonnn..." she started sobbing.
Darling don't be adamant, we can't go in there see it's fully covered in ashes. I think its flaming hot," her mom said waving her hands dramatically.
"No, it's not. It's not hot. I want it," she cried rapidly, kicking her legs.
Reya picked up the nearby rock and said, "Look, look, this is the moon," holding out her open palms.
"NO! It is not," Mina screamed, pushing the rock away. She started sobbing hard and creating a fuss. Her nose started bleeding due to stress.
"Oh my god mina stop!" her mom cried, holding her closely to her shoulders.
"Medicine, medicine" Reya mumbled searching through her back pack. Taking out two pills from the prescribed bottles, she ran over to Momma Jade. "Mom, give her medicine," she said handing out the pills and a bottle of water from her pocket.
"NOO! I want the moon," Mina screamed.
"Mina, please take the tablets. I'll get it for you after," Reya said, frowning.
"Nooo, I want the moon now," she wheezed, pushing her outstretched hand away.
Reya held her little hands firmly. "Okay, okay ill get it now," she whispered. "I'm going now. So be a good girl and eat your tablets okay," she said with her eyes wide open.
"Reya, I'll go," Mr. Kooper said, moving forward.
Shaking her head with a determined look, Reya hugged her little sister. "No, Mr. Kooper, stay here and protect them. I'll be back in a jiffy," she said with a wide smile.
As she was about to leave her mom held her hands and shook her head, "Don't Reya" she mouthed.
"It's okay mom," she mouthed back and pulled her hands away.
Reya ran towards the huge black crater and proceeded to climb down. The path was full of small burnt rock particles and concrete that made her trip and stumble. But she got right up and walked towards the huge rock. 'Mina is sick again, and if this rock can relieve her. I'll bring it to her,' she thought as she sprinted ahead.
No sooner than five minutes Reya reached the epicenter of the crater. "Why is the moon still white?" she said in wonder. Usually when a meteor enters the earth's atmosphere, it catches aflame due to the rapid gravitational pull.
'This place looks like it was impacted by a flaming meteor but why is the rock still white? Isn't it supposed to be like tar black or something?' she thought, gazing at the huge rock.
"Maybe there was some kind of metal in it, who knows? Wonders of the world I guess," Reya muttered, walking close to the moon fragment.
As she walked closer, Reya felt the temperature drop. "Eh, why is it cold? Isn't it supposed to be hot? This is super weird," she mumbled standing right in front of the Cold rock.
"Let me test it just in case," she said out loud. She took a small bottle of water and dribbled a few drops on the moon fragment. "If it sizzles, I will not touch it, if it doesn't ill just chip a piece of it," she said cheerfully waiting for the small droplets of water to react.
However, the water reacted in the most unusual way possible. It froze over. "What the heck?" Reya stepped further away from the mysterious rock. And tripped and fell to her butt. "Oww, that hurts," she cried looking at her bleeding hands. The sharp rocks scrapped her hand, leaving a bleeding mess.
"I will deal with you later," Reya said looking at her bleeding palms. She riffled through her bad and found a small knife and a plastic wrap. "Okay I'll make sure not to touch it with her hands. Who knows it might be radioactive for all I Know," she muttered, stepping close to the moon fragment.
She started chipping the rock with her knife. It didn't go as smoothly as she thought it would. The moon fragment was too hard for her to break with just a knife. "Hmm, I need something heavier to ram this knife in," she thought out loud and started looking around her surroundings.
"Aha, maybe this will work," Reya thought lifting a palm sized rock. When observed close, it looked more like a metal. "Eh, either way I hope you work," she said to the rock in her hands.
Like a sculptor chiseling a statue, she started chipping at the moon fragment. After a while one small piece broke off. "Oh thank god, my job here is done." she said carefully, lifting the plastic wrapped rock to her face.
"You ... I really miss...." she heard a vague murmur.
'Someone is here with me,' Reya thought.
She crawled over to the other side. 'What if they are dangerous?' she thought with caution, holding the small dagger close.
Reya crawled over to the other side of the huge rock, making as little sound as possible. "I miss you so much sister. The gods are so cruel; they cursed you into a rock. Now they smashed you into pieces. Is this the punishment for being who we are?" the male voice said barely above a whisper.
'Who is this guy talking to? Maybe there is another girl here,' she thought as she peeked to the other side. She saw a beautiful young man; he was touching the moon fragment and crying silent tears. His blond hair shimmered in the evening sun light, gently swaying in the wind.
Reya could not get a clear look at his face though. 'Let me get closer' she thought as she crawled close.
