Metro 1

Before we left for Atlanta, Andrew grabbed me and told me something that would make any gamers droll.

Andrew: I know that you like to use axes and adding that shield of yours to the mix, will make the best fighter I saw. I thought that you may like an upgrade to your ax, so I modified the weapon a little. I removed the wood handle and put a magnesium one which would make the ax lighter and that's not all, I know that you like to show off like any teenager so I added a small gift for you. Your ax can be coated in electricity which will make the weapon way deadlier than it was before. Of course, this upgrade is also dangerous to the user if the weapon isn't used carefully. As a safety measure again the electricity, I coated the handle in rubber making it slightly safer for the user.

Eric: Andrew…I can't thank you enough for this gift. You are a genius. This weapon will be the best melee weapon for me.

Andrew: That's why I thought you will like this modification. Now go, you have a base to secure.

The distance from Senoia to Atlanta should take, normally one hour maybe one and a half if there is traffic, but now, in a zombie apocalypse with most of the vehicles abandoned on the streets, one simple distance took us nearly 6 hours of slowly driving.

When we entered Atlanta, it was already afternoon. With the darkness coming fast, we need to hurry and secure the metro station. Staying in a city like Atlanta in the night would be suicidal.

We had to force our way through some crashes, but after another painful hour, we finally found the Blue line entrance: Hamilton E Holmes.

Seeing that we arrived, Paul stopped the car near the railroad. After we took our weapons from the car, we begin to formulate a plan.

(I have no idea how the metro stations and tunnels are in the USA, so I'm sorry if my speculation of the metro system isn't accurate. I'll try to use the Metro game series metro system as a reference-I know that the series is based on the Russian metro system)

Eric: Paul you will cover our backs. Lee, Olivia, and Private you three will stay behind me and cover my ass if we encounter any resistance.

Paul: What are our chances to meet zombies inside?

Eric: Low, at least I hope. Normally, the metro station should be empty as the government issued a warning, but you never know what can happen. Let's go. We don't have that much daylight left.

As we slowly walk inside the tunnel, the natural light that illuminates our path slowly disappears in the darkness. We already thought that electricity won't work, so we took with our flashlights to see what's in front of us.

Half an hour later, we stumble across a gate and if we walk ten meters we can find the control room. It was evident that the door led to the control room for the gate, but we have one big problem. We don't have electricity to operate the gate.

After a short brainstorming session, we decided to continue onward and hope to find the generator room. After twenty minutes of walking, we found the generator corridor.

I know that going with the whole team will be a bad idea as we don't know if the tunnel is safe, so I formed another team of two people.

I and Lee will go and check the generators while the rest of the group will remain to defend the tunnel and in case of an attack, they will inform us through the walkie-talkie.

Inside the corridor, we found three bodies of the workers that, I presume worked here. We stabbed the workers in the head as a precaution. A good one I may say as the three bodies were still "alive".

Continuing on our path we killed five more zombies before we found the generators. After looking at the consoles, Lee found the button that starts the generators, and fortunately for us, the station has enough juice to function 24h/24h for at least one month without problems.

Eric: We hit the jackpot, Lee. We can settle here now, of course, we will need to check the whole station and block the entrance that led into the city.

With the generators on, we can close the gate and secure one part of the station. Before we close the gate, Paul suggested that we should take the car inside the tunnel, where it would be safe, as we don't know anything about the survivors that live in this city.

After Paul brought the car inside the secure tunnel, we closed the gate behind us, taking a stone from our hearts. Now that we are inside the tunnel and with the car providing support, we advanced till we found one train that blocks our way.

With the path blocked, we decided to advance through the train, and after ten minutes, we found the station. Everything was clear; no sign of humans or zombies, but that can change anytime.

From what I know, the checkpoint can be blocked by a metal fence, which will hold anything that may try to enter the station.

Lee and the private walked to close the checkpoint, while the rest of us walked to the next gate room.

Our group found the gate control room after we walked for another ten minutes and just like the first gate; we were able to close it without any problems, now that station has electricity.

Now that station was secure, we decided to eat something before we will make a camp for the night.
