Peace

We lay together in the warm water, embraced in each other's arms, and the last rays of the sun. We had been gone all day but I still didn't want to go back. I just wanted to stay in this private world we've created here. 

In here, we can be at peace. We can be together and not worry about the looks of others or the things they say when they think we can't hear them. We can be us... without having to hide or apologize for being different. We have peace here... and in a way, a piece of heaven. 

As the sun continues to disappear, the temperatures continue to drop. Thane continues to draw lazy circles on my bare skin but when I break out in goosebumps, he moves us further into the warm water. 

I give him a warm smile before wrapping my arms around his neck and laying my head on his bare shoulder. In the distance, we both can hear a storm approaching but it won't be here for another hour or so.
