A Midnight Encounter

Chara sat upon a rooftop, eating a bar of chocolate, until she suddenly heard a sighing Akane.

"Hey partner, why the long sigh? Isn't everything just going like you want to be in the last time?"

"Yes Chara..."

"Partner."

"Excuse me?"

"Call me partner, just like I do to you?"

Silence for a moment.

"Why the hell should I?"

"Well, Frisk and I did the same in the past, so I would feel more comfortable if you did too."

"...?"

"Sigh, what's the problem partner?"

"Wouldn't it be difficult to differentiate between who is talking to who, if we both call us partner each other?"

"Fine, what do you want to call me?"

"How about, Chara, like always? Why should we change this if it's already working so perfectly and as you once said, I am not Frisk, I am Akane, so why the hell should I listen to your opinion on this."

Chara just chuckled hearing this. This girl definitely was different from Frisk. Well, at least she cheered up considerably now.

"Fine partner, what did you want to talk about anyways?"

"I honestly forgot just now."

"Seriously? Wasn't it, like super important? I was pretty sure you mulled over that since I took over our body."

"Guess it wasn't that important when I forgot it after cheering up."

"Guess not."

The pair continued to sit there in silence, observing the sky.

"Honestly, thank you for letting me see."

"No problem, but can't you see with you own eyes too? Pretty sure unity mode allowed you to see."

"Yes, but it hurts very badly when I use it. I think I didn't notice it the first time, because my body suppressed all the pain so it could continue on. Well, ignoring pain would come and bite you back I guess."

"Well, it certainly did for your eyes. So, how is sight for you?"

"It's pretty amazing, I never could have guessed that sight would entail so much! I mean I knew the world is big and vast, after all I had my echolocation to hear how big it was, but who would have guessed that colors entailed so much! And not just colors! The shadows from dark places that block my sight from things that I could 'see' with my hearing, the light reflection from all objects that shine back at me and show me that shine and sometimes even blind me! The compositions, structure, positions..."

"Whoa, whoa partner. I understand it, sight is awesome. But you don't need to tell me in such detail about the things I already know off. Especially in that tone, I feel like my ears are falling off."

"Sorry..."

"You don't have to be, after all, everyone takes sight for granted, but hearing someone that lived all their life without it and suddenly gets it talk about it. It gives me a newfound appreciation for it."

"It does, huh?"

"Yep, it does. But as long as I could taste my chocolate, I will be happy."

"About the chocolate. Look, I told you I was fine with whatever you do, since you are your own person and all, but could you stop stealing all the stuff you are using? I honestly feel bad about the granny from the candy shop you are stealing this chocolate from."

"And nobody else?"

"Well, they are big corporations, that exploit humans under slave like conditions for their productions and just one person not buying from it won't make a difference. I could honestly care less if you keep stealing from them, at least you won't give them their profit and most of these persons won't get enough pay anyways. That is not the point anyways, that granny from the candy shop is a private shop and gets the all of the money directly without losing any on the way! With you not paying for your chocolate, means that she won't get the money from it and it looks like the shop isn't doing well if it's still open during night!"

Chara chuckled, Akane was really cute during those moments

"Don't worry, I am properly paying her, she even sees me as a regular, wanna see?"

Akane nodded, she really was interested if Chara told the truth. Chara just jumped down to a back alley from the roof and walked towards the shop. She didn't buy chocolate today yet.

She just walked into the shop, took one or two chocolate bars and walked up to the counter, paying properly for it. This all happened in silence and Akane already suspected that Chara was lying, until...

"So, you are the person that mysteriously comes into my shop, takes some chocolate bars and leaves in a way that I don't notice, leaving 500 Yen as payment."

Chara just chuckled in a sweet voice before answering.

"Yes, I am granny. I kind of was just very shy to walk up front to you to pay for your chocolate, so I paid while hiding. But here I am today, standing right in front of you. Hehe."

The old woman started to chuckle and Chara joined in the laughter. It would have been a sweet encounter if it was day in a buzzling street, but not during night, when nobody was in the next vicinity.

"Oh well, glad I could meet you in person tonight. Here is your change."

Chara looked into the old woman's hand and saw that it included the change that she would have get if she showed up properly to pay the chocolate.

"Oh, you don't have to, I can see that your shop isn't doing too great currently and I don't need that money, you can keep it."

"Oh, what makes you say that, young lady? As you can see, my store is in top condition, why would you think that I would do badly?"

Chara chuckled before answering, she already liked the old woman in front of her. She had that mysterious atmosphere around her that you wouldn't just get with age. The old woman was more than you could see at first sight.

"Well, first of all, your shop. To say it nicely, it's empty. I don't see any potential customers, even in the immediate vicinity, also. The shop is in a pretty far back alley, followed by a back alley, followed by a sideroad, followed by the fact that this is a more abandoned part in the city. Seriously, just reaching this place is a pain in the ass and I can't imagine this shop being popular. And lastly, your shop is still opened and its past midnight. Tell me, why would a little shop like yours have to open so late if it's doing well?"

The old woman chuckled upon hearing Charas explanation, but it wasn't a crazy, weird, or creepy laughter. It was the laughter of an old grandmother enjoying a conversation with one of their granddaughters. To be honest, Akane was a bit weirded out by the situation.

"Well, you found out what little old me was trying to hide. This shop is in a bit of a drab state, but other than that I am doing well as you can see. So, you don't have to worry about my income."

Chara just smirked at the old woman's words, before she turned around. waving back at her.

"You do you, old lady. But just let me give you a few words of advice. You don't know what kind of people are up and going around in this time of night. After all, I might have been a crazy serial killer."

But before Chara could walk out of the alley she could hear a disembodied, young voice say something to her.

"Well, what a good child you have been tonight. Let me return your kind gesture, I am after all a bit of a psychic. Let me tell you a bit about your future, my child."

Chara turned around, just to be met with a wall of fog, this situation turned out to be interesting.

"Ahuhu, how curious, it looks like your future is concealed by a big veil of possibilities. You have the choices to go a path basked with glory and happiness, or a path filled with despair and hatred, but you probably already knew that. Let me tell you something new instead. Tonight, you are going to have a fateful encounter with someone that is similar to you, yet completely different. Now farewell, this is the end of our fleeting meeting."

Chara smiled, this will definitely be the candy shop she will frequent for her chocolate! Even if the damn location will change every night because of her, she will damn well find this shop!

------------------------------------------------------------------

It was a normal night in a normal town. The center of the city was full with life, filled with all kind of people, ranging from business man to thugs, all considered normal for a normal mega city.

But now something that could be normally considered normal if walking on the streets is now abnormal. Something normal that was walking in an abnormal environment, wouldn't they be considered abnormal now and the rest normal?

Among these drunkards, hostesses, bodyguards, shop advertisers, was a child. A young girl, probably not even the age of 14 yet, was walking late night out. A time a child wasn't supposed to walk out on the streets in this time of day.

But even now it seems like the girl was an anomaly in the scenery. She wasn't wearing anything, gaudy, flashy, or even anything that could be considered seductive. She was wearing a plain grey hoodie that seemed too big for her and pair of worn-out jeans, alongside some plain looking sneakers. Her hood was pulled over her head and concealed her face. The girl honestly looked like a mummy like this.

Of course, the girl wasn't left unsighted like this, and of course the people that had to pull her off the street wasn't anyone decent either. It just had to be some thugs that noticed her walking out in this time and place and of course they didn't plan to do nice things with her either.

"Well, what do we have here? A young lady walking out this late at night? Didn't your parents teach you that good girls aren't supposed to walk out this late at night? What if you walked into some untrustworthy fellows?"

The concerned expression immediately warped into a sadistic glee.

"Fellows like us."

Upon these words the girl was pulled into a back alley and restrained by some of his fellow compatriots.

"Let's look what we have here."

Upon revealing the face of the person under the hood, they were met with the face of a cute young girl that had a flushed expression on her face. They were surprised to say the least. They haven't drugged her yet and she was already this riled up? Could she have been a victim that got addicted to the feeling of being gang banged and just returned for another session because of that?

The honestly didn't know, but they didn't care either. A hole is a hole after all.

"Let me be first, I am into blond girls with twin tails."

"Really dude? Well, have her, I am not really into that stuff with minors."

During their discussions they didn't realize what happened. The girl bit into the arm of one of them, reaching the main artery in his arms, before ripping a good chunky of his flesh out. Of course, they were horrified upon this sight, but the girl already pushed them just deeper into the alley. They were messing with the wrong person.

"Onii-san, please show me how you look when you are bleeding out! I am into that stuff!"

She said, while sitting one the bleeding corpses she left behind, looking very gleeful. She let out a crazy giggle as if something pent up in her got released.

"Enjoy slaughtering peoples like pigs? Man, you left a big mess. Well, do you plan of disposing the evidence or did you want that someone discover it and report it to the police?"

To Himikos surprise, she was confronted with a girl sitting on the fire escape just beside her.

------------------------------------------------------------------

At a certain someone's house:

You were currently seeing a person sitting in front of you, tapping on their keyboard, apparently writing something. Something that looked very familiar to you, it was a story, a story you knew that you currently read.

Suddenly the person stopped tapping and turned around in their chair, facing you.

"Well, back here at my place again, huh?"

The person looked at you with an exhausted gaze.

"Look, the time you appeared here is one in the morning for me. So, don't expect me to play the clown for you, now get out of here."

She turned around, continuing with the story you like so much that you stayed until now. Suddenly they stopped again.

"Sigh, what do you want? I was busy playing 'Dweller's Empty Path' today, made by Temmie Chang, so I don't have time for you. So please go away."

Unsurprisingly you stayed.

"You are still here? You haven't stopped reading yet? Fine."

She turned around again, pushing her glasses up the nose, making this glasses thing anime character do, before just putting the glasses down her face.

(I am warning you in my Fourth Wall voice. HEAVY SPOILERS ON THE GAME AHEAD.)

(Oh, and nothing interesting about the actual story will be talked about from here on, you should really stop reading this, before you waste a lot of your precious time.)

"Well, my favorite part of the game was the parody of the classical predestined hero genre, were Yoki was following that group of four people. It was funny to look at and for a change the music changed from that overworld music that caused headaches to me after an hour in the game. It was just funny to read and I had to laugh intensely after that it was revealed that Zera defeated the dark lord and took over his position. I hope the hero party is doing fine now. My favorite location was the lonely girls caves, yes the girl from 'Escaped Chasm', it was cute to see the opinion of Yoki on her and that she is currently doing so great in her new world, I especially liked seeing her 'home' if you could call it that. The spear you could see in the extra room in the first game, her hay bed that was in the same position as her old bed and especially the giant snake that lived with her. It is an obvious innuendo to the snake Melody, from Escaped Chasm, yes, the snake that died in that game. I was honestly sad seeing that and was happy knowing that she came over with the lonely girl to the new world. YOU CAN'T STOP ME FROM THINKING THAT! Well melody seems very docile, so I am pretty sure it's her. What else? Found Zera's creep mansion yet? If not got to the swamp in the east of the game and enter and reenter the place with the four withered trees repeatedly, after a while his mansion should appear. Who my favorite character is? That's difficult to say, I think it's a close between Este and (as you would expect) the lonely girl. Why? I can insert myself more easily in the lonely girl, but I just like these characters so much that space out! And (again) the extra part were you could play the lonely girl again moved me so hard again, at the beginning of the game you could find a letter on the dead tree in the area close to the girl and Yoki would find it, trying to read it, but not able to understand what it said. I was kind of annoyed the entire game, especially after the end, because I wouldn't get to know what that letter is, until that part where you played her and you would find out that it was a letter from her mother. This surprised me so hard, I almost shed a tear. Now that might seem cruel to say, but you must know that I can barely feel the sadness watching stuff. I didn't cry during Clannad, I didn't cry as Koro-sensei died, I didn't cry at the ends of Angel Beats, nor Charlotte and Charlotte is one of my top ten Anime! The only times I cried was during Violet Evergarden Episode 10 and after playing Escaped Chasm with being left with an empty feeling, because it felt like it ended after it begun and I just had that nostalgic feeling in my chest. Anyways, back to the main topic, 'Dweller of Empty Path'. What to say else? I really like the dynamic Temmie went for Yoki and Claire, it kind of reminds me of Reimu and Marisa. I mean a happy go lucky witch with the emotional toned-down main character? Totally reminded me of them and I totally like it, especially with the broom scene in mind and the end reveal were Claire said that she was worried about Yoki. What else to make this an absolute pain in the ass to read? The chicken! Chicken was honestly best character gameplay relevant. He gave you tips (you honestly wouldn't need if you were a true gamer and EXPLORE the map you have been given until you vomit) and you played as him during the very end. I am interested in the words of the NPC Temmie put on the roof. I think I will go for the ignore Zera path tomorrow. Also, that one cat image was super cute, I liked it very much seeing it. Well there is one thing that confuses me with the game. What is the reason these underground passages exist and what is the meaning of that little thing in a hazmat suit standing beside some bones? Mysterious. And what is the meaning of the mysterious in Zera's basement? WHY IS IT THERE! Also, now that I am reminded, I hated castle town the most in the game, NO, path ways! There were so many unnecessary scenes! So many unnecessary NPCs you could talk to, so much to walk! It felt like my exploring nature was oversaturated and I was drowning! It felt like so much for me! Anything else? Well yes, that red girl at the end of the game that you see after you played through the entire game. That was definitely the same girl in that one bad end from Escaped Chasm that happened when you ignore that Yoki puppet, she was literally the same hue, body position and disgusting number of eyes as the one that you saw in this end. I wonder of this girl is some interdimensional sealed away goddess that threatens the stability of the worlds Temmie mentioned and I wonder what the true extend of Zeras powers are. What can I say about the Soundtrack? It was pretty okay. It wasn't the best I ever heard. Yes it might be an arrangement between Toby Fox, Camellia and Temmie's original music pieces, but it wasn't the best I heard, it kind of was just fitting for the scenery, and gave me the feeling that it was kind of fantasy slice of life like if you understand what I mean. Oh, and one last thing. Yoki for Super Smash Bros Ultimate and you should play Dweller's Empty Path."

(SPOILER END)

Goes for my fucking water.

"Well, I hope you understand that the above paragraph I wrote is a pain in the ass to read and that you should, because it includes heavy spoiler. Bye."
