'It's here again' he thought to himself. Staring down at the black little box on the floor. He stood at the entrance to his office, squatting down he picked up the gift. Like clock work the gift was placed at the entrance to his office. Every year from the day he turned 29, he had been receiving a gift on the 25th of May , his birthday. Now he was 37. Eight years and it still continued. Maybe that was the reason he started caring. A flash of warmth passed his clear eyes, as he held and regarded the gift with gentle hands. From surprise to suspicion, suspicion to curiosity, and finally from curiosity to confusion. He had come to appreciate these little gifts. Taking care of a multi-billion dollar company was not easy and even more so time consuming, so while he could not even think of himself, who thought of him?
I shot a glance at the sweet goodies on the refreshment table at the center of the huge hall. I was always so excited when I came for credits and comments. You would think the people would pay a little bit of more respect to the baked goods, but they just gobbled them up without even caring about the taste, quality and quantity they ate. I rolled my eyes at an old man who took a very sorry excuse for a slice and spent forever eating it acting all elegant.
"Come on you could have taken a bigger slice,'' I thought as I slightly narrowed my eyes at him.
On the other side of the table I spotted a small hand, cute short fingers and all, while I was busy shooting death glares at the two old men, his friend had joined him they were playing at the same f****** game.
The hand grabbed a ball off chocolate and dropped a few seconds later reached up to grab another. The pyramid of chocolate balls threatened to fall apart as the hand grabbed another. I decided to go check out who the hand belonged to, I stood up slowly walking to the other side of the table as if trying to corner a kitten.
My eyes slightly widened in surprise as I spotted the cute kid. He looked five, he had brown hair, pale skin that went well with his golden brown eyes. While wearing a mini tux and dress trousers-in fact a business man attire he was so damn cute and handsome by the way.
Not seeming to have noticed me yet he stretched out adorably to get another one.
"Hey," I said as I squatted to his level. He gasped, stumbling back a few steps.
"I think if you really want more I can help you, but first you should stop taking the balls from the bottom of the pyramid cause if not you're going to get chocolate all over your cute self and the floor," I said as I pulled out my pale yellow square linen to wipe the smudges of chocolate on his hands and face.
"Lick your lips," I said as I noticed a spot I missed. He hesitated at first narrowing his eyes at me but he did at the end, his supple cheeks turning a darker shade of red.
"So where are your parents," I said as I softly swept his silky soft slightly damp hair out of his face.
He glanced at me ignoring my question and tugging at the hem of my gown. He pointed at the tray of chocolate balls looking at me with his big brown eyes, I felt like wrapping my arms around him and giving him several kisses, but, whose kid was this? who would let such an adorable angel slip out of their sight? I won't, I'd be watching him like a hawk.
"You want one," I asked him ruffling his silky soft hair.
In a flash I noticed he had a small scowl on his face at my act but soon it was gone and replaced with a smile.
"You know more than your supposed to don't you," I said as I poked his left cheek. I got two napkins and put a chocolate ball in it with a slice of the cake I made and gave him.
He froze at my statement and looked up at me his brows furrowed making his handsomeness more profound, he was hesitant at first but held my hand and began to pull me across the other half of the hall where majority of the business moguls stood, they conversed about business, some holding champagne others wine glasses and so on.
As we approached them some shot us questioning glances and started gossiping, what was happening?
