LOG 68: The Truth of Motives

Once our teammates and of course, Pierce and his peers, were released, we careened out of the tower in full swiftness. Team Plasma might be bound to destroy Team Rocket once he sees our mothership there, unless; N has other plans with Reshiram. For now, there is no telling what he plans to do, but something out of his belief I suppose.

Reaching the pinnacle of the tower once more, our panicking was put to a halt. We were met by Matori, Miyamoto, and Domino. They seemed to be waiting patiently for us with not a single distress at their faces. Alice was also in a hurry to see her mother, having doubts of her previous statements and judgements, not to mention she was first to notify Team Rocket about the serums which by surprise, Team Plasma also has, but they don't appear to be fond of it unlike Magma and Aqua.

"Secretary Domino, is everything alright?" asked Alice.

"Yes. We were planning to dive down after seeing N emerge with his sky units until you met us by surprise."

"So, they didn't attack or whatsoever?" asked Charlotte.

"I believe, not. They just left, and that's it," said Matori.

"If not, where are they heading to this time?" Alice scratched her head.

"And how come Zekrom barely did anything? N said I was in a wrong place and I'm not worthy, some Thor gibberish."

"We're currently trying to contact headquarters to notify Professor Sophie. So far, she hasn't responded," added Domino.

"Mom? Not… Not responding? Impossible, she always answer her phone calls!" Alice's eyes, it widened intensely.

"Hey, hey, let's not rush into conclusions yet, she might be captured. Ye know? The good old knowledgeable professor trope?" Virgo tried to calm Alice.

"Or maybe she's havng some issues with her er… Stomach? You never know," Zeal joined in.

"If she was captured, we would've been notified by now," Matori hypothesized.

"No… No… That doesn't seem to be the case. Let's analyze from the beginning. First, that Ghetsis douchebag gave a replica of the Meteonite with the other sages. Dawn arrives, wait no, she doesn't have any connections, plus she came first to help."

"Rewind to that, there's the moment—"

"Yes! That! This could mean his real goal was to lead me and Virgo out to claim the fake Meteonite for giving high hopes to Team Rocket while another impersonator takes the role of Professor Sophie to warn Alice about my stone wherein she, without a doubt, lied. She then did the assessment thingy and ordered its shutdown so that she could earn my trust. Of course, as a mother who knows that their daughter is a member of Team Rocket, she would do anything to avoid hazards and risks. There comes her role of meeting with a man named Colress, staging the trial with Dilbur, and cancelling afterward to act as if she was scared her daughter's Pokemon or Alice herself would be put into danger." I hypothesized.

"It doesn't make sense! If she's an impersonator, then how did she give me back your mega stone?"

"Yeah, Luna. She went to our dorm looking for you after you asked her to do some research about your Gardevior thingy a few months ago."

"Then!" I drew a deep breath. "She's a member of Team Plasma from the very beginning."

"Indeed, the professor was." A voice interrupted as two gunshots obliterated the silence. Miyamoto's face paled, walking like a wobbly stick. With life remaining in her, she struggled for the gun on her pocket.

"No, you don't!" Absol was sent out. She jolted to Miyamoto and bit her arm. Miyamoto struggled, kicking my Pokemon's chest like a drunk woman. Everybody was frozen in fear except for me. Who was her accomplice but the agent who did the assessment with the professor?

Absol's left hind bashed her stomach to the ground. From there, she swung her scythe, piercing Miyamoto's neck. Her body flew and entered the hole in the tower as though she was a golf ball. The woman responsible for the gunshots? Matori and Domino looked behind, shocked to see Madam Boss.

She pointed her pistol on Alice next. Domino immediately defended the impersonator's daughter. "Woah, Madam Boss, she's clueless as we are. She wasn't part of this, we swear."

"A-a-nd to think that she gave me a technical machine," I whispered, petting Absol as we both gazed down at the hole.

Madam Boss spoke like a robot. There was no doubt that she herself was appalled too. "Professor Sophie was the one who called Team Plasma to the Desert Resort. Miyamoto was the agent who is responsible for my assassination attempt alongside another grunt who pretended to be Team Rocket's. She used Luna's worry to bring her to me in case her accomplice failed. The accomplice failed, she failed to send out her gun. Too many witnesses. To be deemed trustworthy, Miyamoto intimidated Virgo's voice. Professor Sophie leaked details about the Meteonite and stole it from the volts. She went to Driftveil, easy with her Pokemon, and so, we wonder, who is the secretary who worked with Bronius and Giallo? All she needed was a change in appearance and she can be whatever she wants."

"How did you know all of these?" Pierce asked.

"Your new suits. They're not new just for the thought of being new. There, Hoenn department attached a device that secretly records everything you say, those you speak with. One word is all it takes to activate it. Of course, Miyamoto and Sophie had similar devices. I've fallen once, my son took charge, and now, I'll make sure my reign is for an eternity where every grunt I can be sure won't retaliate. And no need to hide, Luna, Oliver's cooperating with the chief inspector of the Pokemon International Police. I heard everything that night."

"If—If—You heard it, then why didn't you do it before. Why did you wait?"

"Why, of course, I need to learn more about Team Plasma. It's fun to make people think we're idiots when they're the real ones, eh? Because of them, I know where to head next. Undella Town."

"Wait! Where's my mother?" Alice grappled from Domino's grasp. "Did you pull the trigger on her?"

"If you're that eager, then why are waste more time? Undella town is where we need to be." She inserted the gun back to her holster. Her normal voice was back. "Throw that stone away, Luna. You won't be needing it."

"Huh? But Zekrom… The glowy thingy? And… Huh?"

"Hand it over to me, Luna. I'll investigate on this one." Matori grinned. I can trust her. She's technically a cyborg, so she probably understands what to do this time.

Tears dropped from Alice as she walked to the helicopter. Her hand was trembling. She even tripped before entering but luckily Zeal caught her.

"Madam Boss, back to your mothership?" said Xeryll.

"Yes, drop me and Domino there. Also, Commander! You and your men follow from behind. This'll be a long journey, and there's plenty of catching up to do." She turned her head to Pierce. "Your helicopter will be picking you up in a moment."

"Aye, Madam!"

We left Dragonspiral. Our helicopter was pure quietude. I watched Domino's disheartened gaze at the windows, her eyes teary, her lips biting one another. Why wouldn't she? Miyamoto was more of a friend to her. Alice was the same - wondering what plot her mom's' up to and why she kept such a secret for so long. Undella Town? Sounds like a nice spot for a trainer willing to take a vacation.

Virgo read her book, Zeal petted her Roserade, Charlotte was hyperactive again. All we did was to pretend none of that happened except for me. I mean c'mon, Absol's killing skills are improving bit by bit!

On the brighter point, what will Madam Boss do to Oliver? Heh, he's a goner.

More secrets to be divulged as Luna takes her way to zenith of the first pilgrimage!
