Don't patronize me

When Samantha woke up neither Nigel nor Acer where in the room.

She bathed and walked downstairs wearing a grey T-shirt and black leggings.

Nigel was in the kitchen preparing breakfast, air held an scent of Lemon and bacon.

" Nigel?"

" Yes honey?"

" Where is Acer?"

" His in the sitting room, wait there, I'll take you to him."

" His fed, bathed and happy."

" Wow, look who is effecient?"

" Yeah, where can you get a husband like me?"

" humility is virtue honey"

" Can't I brag around my wife?"

" I'll give you that."

When he was done, they both sat at the table.

It was only when he sat that he saw his trail on Samantha's body from last night.

He felt a sense of love and achievement as happiness surged through him, warming up his heart.

" Ok, so from you left you will find your cup of tea, followed by...."

" Stop! don't do that anymore, I appreciate it but not anymore honey."

" Everything you say honey."

" Why didn't you tell me?"

" Tell you what?" Samantha asked with a mouthful of omelettes.

" That yesterday was your first time?"

" Because I didn't know too..."

" How come?"

" I knew I was before, we where caught in the hotel by paparazzi."

" That makes sense, that means nothing happened then, but why where we naked?"

"It's a mystery.. I guess."

" I wish I knew, so that I could have taken better care of you."

"...."

"Why are you acting coy now?"

"Am not... don't patronize me."

" Ok, fine... your mother-in-law called me in the morning, saying she wants to come and see Acer."

" I don't have a problem with that, she had come to see us twice when we where in the hospital."

" Yeah..."

" The one who didn't visit was your father though, doesn't he like Acer? or maybe it's me he doesn't like?"

Nigel keep quiet for a bit.

" Whatever​ that man thinks shouldn't bother you. I can't say he doesn't like you, neither can I say he doesn't."

" So he doesn't like us then?"

" .... "

When she didn't hear anything from Nigel Samantha changed the topic.

" Why aren't you going for work anyway?"

" Well, thanks to Thanos working while you where in the Hospital, am on a two weeks paternity leave."

" So you will be going back to work the same day we will be taking Acer to his first month doctor's appointment?"

" Yeah, though seeing you two here make me have second thoughts about going back to work."

" Don't slack off work, am a shareholder, I'll report you."

" Yes madam."

Nigel slept on the couch in the sitting room, with Acer on his chest, while Samantha learnt Braille with a teacher Nigel had hired for her.

She wanted to read Acer story books, so she had to learn.

There was a knock at the door.

" Nigel?"

" .... "

" Nigel?"

" Yes, yes honey..."

There is a knock at the door, can you check it for me.

" No problem."

Because their door was made of glass, Nigel could clearly see his parents outside the door.

He Opened the door for them and closed it after them not saying anything to neither of them.

" Who is it honey?"

Nigel fake coughed.

" It's Mom...and father."

" Oh, you are welcome...afternoon Mr and Mrs Miller?"

"Oh..." Clara expressed looking at Nigel.

" You haven't done anything note worthy of her calling you whatever you think you should be called, asking her to do that is way to selfish of you."

" Afternoon Samantha." Clara greeted.

Samantha felt the mood change to a more sombre one and she dismissed her Braille teacher.

" Honey, give them Acer, so that we can prepare snacks for them."

" That's not necessary...we won't be here for long, can I talk to you in private son?"

Nigel looked at Lean Miller and directed him upstairs to his library.

The library was at the far end of the corridor, It was a heavily stocked library with nothing but medical books. It had a large table with one chair.

Lean Miller was confused at the layout of furniture in the room.

" You can take a sit."

Lean Miller looked at his son who looked at him back the utmost disgust in his eyes.

" You know my son, I wasn't born in a family of money but I loved that your​mother loved me even though she came from a family of money. I had to work hard for that hospital to prove myself. I just...."

"You called me out here in private to threw a pity party?"

" I just thought of making small talks with my son, but fine I'll get to the point."

" I want your wife's shares."

" I know that, but what makes you think you can have them?"

"The beautiful family that you are building up here... Something tell me you wouldn't want anyone or anything like a big family secret to ruin it for you."

Nigel laughed out.

"You think,am like mother, who will bring you back in her life dispite your ambiguities
