The Postman

June 13th 2001

"These are today's delivery.. do I have to be your postman on my birthday?" Bia dropped a stack of love letters on Grant's desk.

"Silly girl, why did you accept them?"

"Well....", Bia smiled sheepishly.

"Wait, how much did you charge them on your birthday?"

"Not much, I just told them that I won't accept candies and snacks. Only chocolates and cakes, a comic as a payment would be much appreciated".

"They are even sillier than you ".

"They'll do anything for love, Grant. That's why you should stop being iceberg, just choose one and make her your girlfriend. A pretend one will be alright as well. Then I'll retire from being your postman, I feel bored doing this lately".

"It's not love and you read to much manga, there won't be any girlfriend, either fake or real. And don't try to find one because I know what you're thinking now ".

"You are really a boring old man". When Bia about to open the door.

"Bia."

"Hmm", she turned around to look at him and her eyes grew wide as Grant handed her a pink box.

"Happy birthday my little daisy".

"Wow.. thank you so much Grant, can I open it?" Before Grant answered, the box it's already opened.

"How can you get these comics? They are not available in our country yet. They'll only be released in October".

"It's a secret". He winked at her. Suddenly Bia hugged him and kissed his cheek.

"Thank you Grant, you are the best".

"I'm happy you like them". Grant tried to push her away gently because he felt his ears burning and his heart beat thumping in a fast pace. 'What is this feeling?' he thought. This was not the first time Bia gave him a hug, but a kiss was different.

"I love them and you won't see me in this few days, bye Grant".

"Not so fast young lady, your books can wait. Now, get yourself ready because we are going out. Alex will be joining us for a movie this afternoon, then we'll have dinner to celebrate your birthday in your dad's restaurant".

"Did you and Alex plan all of this".

"Yup".

"Both of you are the best brothers in the entire world". That made Grant cringe.

Birthday dinner.

"How's your day honey?" mom asked

"It's wonderful mom, we went to the cinema, after that we had icecream in my favourite cafe".

"I'm glad to hear that and I'm sorry I didn't join".

"It's okay mom. All of us are here to celebrate my birthday. I'm so happy".

"Here comes your favourite dishes, sweetie". Dad, Alex and Grant put all the dishes on the table.

"Ahh, thank you dad.. they look really yummy and my mouth is watering now".

"Hey glutton, blow out the candles, make a wish first before you eat". Bia glared at him and did what he said.

'I wish all of us will stay like this forever', Bia said it in her heart.

After the dinner Grant and Bia walked back home. Their houses are not far from the restaurant.

"What did you wish, Bia".

"I can't tell you but without you my wish won't come true", she looked up to the sky, Grant was looking at her and in his eyes she's the most beautiful girl in the world.
