Looking up from her textbook at the buzz of her phone, Yuzu cast her gaze to Mei who was currently perched at the kitchen table; Supposed to be studying. However her laptop was open to a browser and although Yuzu couldn't make out exactly what she was looking at, it certainly didn't look like her module website.
"Mei, why is there fifty pounds worth of baby and parenting books in my amazon basket?" Yuzu said with a grin as she rose to rest her elbows against the back of the couch. She saw the look of confusion flash over Mei's face as she looked at the laptop before remembering she had refused to get her own online account and just used the blonde's for her minimal purchases.
"In less than eight months we will have a crying baby to look after, I would like to know how we are supposed to prepare and actually learn how to do things. We really should be looking at apartments, I don't want us moving while you are heavily pregnant you will need your rest and that seems like much more hassle than if we just get it sorted now. We also need to buy all the appropriate equipment and furniture for them." Mei said, her eyes not leaving the laptop screen, and as Yuzu got from the couch to wrap her arms around Mei's shoulders, she saw multiple tabs open, all consisting of the aforementioned items.
"Mei that's eight months away, You're not supposed to be the one stressing about this. We've got plenty time to get all this stuff, besides I still haven't really looked into which medical schools I would like to go to, and even if I did I might not get in so picking a house is going to be super difficult right now..." Yuzu's head slumped at the thought and stress of having to plan everything out.
Mei, however, did not seem fazed, "You are aware you can apply for medicals schools now? You are about to start the last year of your bachelors, you can apply with your current grades for an early acceptance, so long as you achieve the predicated grades on your fourth year. Though as I don't plan on moving again, it would be good if you got a placement in Tokyo so we could be close to the academy, but it is ultimately your choice."Speaking but not moving, Mei kept her hands on the laptop keys as she searched for medical schools in Japan.
"Well obviously ill apply for one in Tokyo, somewhere were there a school for you to finish your masters and for when you take over the school. But we don't need to worry about that, didn't you say you had a test to study for tomorrow?" Yuzu smiled while pecking Mei's cheek before closing the lid of the laptop, not cautioned by the huff that left the young Aihara's lips.
"Yuzuko," The name was spoken in the room and Mei felt the blonde who was still draped over her shoulders go rigid as her eyes slowly spanned round to clock Mei.
"Y-Yes?" A nervous response came as Yuzu tried to blow off the fact her voice broke and her heart jumped.
"You are pregnant with our child, a child that will take up the majority of our time. A child that I want to provide the absolute best for, rushing to get everything set up in a new house just a few months before they arrive in this world is not something I want. They should be brought into a cosy, well-established home, not full of moving boxes. I also don't want to be house hunting or packing this place up when you are moody and sore. So, how about you put your textbook down and start looking at medical schools." Voice resolute when she spoke, Mei opened her laptop again opened a new tab and pushed the laptop towards Yuzu.
With a groan, the blonde reluctantly pulled herself off Mei's shoulder and sat at the table next to her wife. slouching over and leaning against her first, Yuzu slowly starting typing with one hand on the keyboard.
"Hey?" Reaching across to rest her hand lightly on Yuzu's forearm, Mei gave an understanding smile. "I know this is all really quite sudden and you haven't had to worry about any of this before now, but I want to make sure everything is in place for us to start our family. That starts with us organising ourself out and planning together, if you really don't want to start looking at houses straight away then we don't have to, but... I'm panicking slightly here too. My way of coping is organizing and planning, staying ahead of the game, I just want to be prepared as possible." Gripping lightly, Mei gave a reassuring squeeze as she waiting for Yuzu to say something, and hopefully remove the sour/bored look from her face.
"I know, but we've built a lot together in the past three years here Mei, I don't want to leave it all behind, it's all our memories. I'll look for medical school I promise, but can we wait until after the first scan before we do anything major? I don't want to change everything, you're still my wife and I want to go shopping with you or go out on a date or to dinner. I don't want everything to just stop with us and become about changing everything." There was a slight whimper to Yuzu's words that pulled at the worn heartstrings on the girl next to her.
"Not everything going to change Yuzu, but somethings will and we have to embrace that." Placing her hand on the hot cheek Mei drew Yuzu close until their heads bumped together.
"Everything we've built here isn't just going to vanish because we start looking at stuff for our child, we can just start making new memories," Mei smiled softly before placing a soft kiss to the blonde's lips.
"Alright?" Opening her eyes, Mei watched as she saw slight tears welling in the emerald pools that looked back at her.
Instead of a verbal response, Mei was only mildly surprised when Yuzu pulled her in for a tight hug, head nodding at her statement.
"Go and get dressed," Pulling back from the embrace, Mei straightened out her shirt as she spoke, "I'm taking you out for dinner and a movie," Smiling would be an understatement for the grin that appeared on Yuzu's face at Mei's offer.
"Thank you, Mei!" Pressing a firmer kiss to Mei's lips, Yuzu nearly skipped down the hall as she headed to change into more appropriate clothes. Mei, stayed at the table, resting her chin on her hand as she watched fondly as Yuzu disappeared into the bedroom with a large smile on her face; She certainly loved Yuzu more than life itself, that she was sure of.
