SS.01 Chapter 3

'Damn! What is happening to me?! I can't even talk properly!' Anna bit her lip, and she didn't know her red lips had already turned white due to nervousness.

The man who was gazing at her turned completely stunned. His body stiffened while his eyes widened, looking at her in disbelief.

His voice almost didn't come out from his throat while he exclaimed. "Who did you say was your child's father?!?"

Anna was even more startled by his cold voice, making her stutter as she continued panicking, "David... David Bradley... I... I only know his name... I was told it was him and he was also a soldier."

Silence befalls between them. Anna even feels more panicked. She was about to turn around and leave when the man suddenly grabbed both of her arms, facing each other.

"You said your child's father was David Bradley? How are you sure since you were only told about it?" He asked in a deep voice, making Anna terrified as her eyes started to redden.

He was stunned to see her frightened expression and unconsciously softened his voice. "How old is the child?"

"Fo... Four.." Anna was choking like she was about to cry. But her heart was already crying without tears while thinking about what mistake she had made.

"And how old are you?" He inquired without letting her go while he tightened his hands on her arms, and kept on gazing at her while waiting for an answer.

"Twenty... I... Twenty-one?" Anna was confused due to her panic. But she failed to catch the glint that shone in his sharp blue eyes.

"You mean, you got pregnant when you were sixteen but don't even know who your child's father is?" He asked, still staring intently at her.

He was very doubtful and her words are full of loopholes. It doesn't make sense and is very suspicious. It may be true that she didn't even know who slept with her and got pregnant, but how was it possible that the name she was told was the real father of her child?

Besides, he could see that Anna wasn't telling the truth, yet she looked confused which also made him more doubtful. He looked straight at her, "Who told you about the name? Are you sure David Bradley is the father of your child?"

"I.. I.. No... I don't know..." Anna shook her head, wanting to say she didn't know but was misinterpreted by the man in front of her.

The small cat that was on her shoulder couldn't help rolling its eyes and covering its face with its claws. It feels shameful to discover Anna's stupidity that she didn't even notice the man's reactions.

"Alright." He said, making her stunned and confused, but she was frozen stiff when he leaned down and kissed her lips. "Though I don't remember doing such things, I will gladly accept it."

"You... You... You kiss me... Why did you kiss me?" Anna's mind is in a mess.

She didn't understand what he was talking about while shocked by his sudden kiss on her lips. She was being taken advantage of by this man. Her first kiss should belong to the protagonist of this world!

He chuckled, watching her confused and shocked expression. He held her in his arms, while the sleeping child was in between them, he leaned over to kiss her lips again.

"Didn't you say your child's father is David Bradley? But you honestly don't know who he was and were only told about it." His voice was soft as he felt amused watching all of her reactions.

"I am in front of you now. Your husband David Bradley, gladly accepts you as my wife and mother of our child." He chucked in delight.

David already had his heart skipped a beat right after seeing her looks. He was indeed amazed, but his heart kept pounding fast while facing her. It was like his icy heart began melting, especially when Anna claimed he was the father of her child.

It was very shocking to hear that he suddenly had a child, and those words came from the woman's lips, which made his heart skip a beat before jumping in delight.

Although he couldn't remember sleeping with any woman, there was indeed a time he was very drunk, but David was sure he didn't touch anyone. Yet he started to feel doubtful after hearing what she said.

Who didn't want to have a beautiful wife that looks like a fairy? Hence, despite not being sure if it was real or not, David was happy to accept it. He didn't feel ashamed for taking advantage of the situation since it was the woman in front of him, who claimed she was the mother of his child.

Anna turned thunderstruck after realizing what was happening. Her mind was a mess while screaming in shock due to her stupidity and unexpected luck.

'What the Fuck! He is the protagonist David Bradley? The one who will fall in love with this body at first sight?! No wonder he had been staring at me! But what's with him accepting a child he wasn't even sure of?!'

"Wife, from now on, you will stay by my side. You don't have to worry about the resources needed by our child." David added happily.

'Is he crazy? What have I done?! Did I just shamelessly claim to be his wife and mother of his child?' Anna complained in her mind, 'This is why lying is not a good thing! Anyway, he is the protagonist, I'll just go with the flow.'

"Come on my dear wife, give me our child. He is too heavy for you to carry the whole time." David took the child from her after removing the baby carrier on Anna's body.

Anna remained frozen and startled again after receiving another kiss on her lips. He was shamelessly taking advantage of her as he surrounded his strong arms on her thin waist, pulling her close towards him, leaving the supermarket while returning to his team.

The other soldiers were already asleep while the lookouts were astonished to see their devil boss holding a little child and a beautiful woman with snow-white hair who seemed in a daze, walking while being surrounded by his arms.

"What are you looking at? Don't stare at my wife!" His cold voice vibrated in their ears, making those soldiers flinch in fear, yet very curious as to how their boss suddenly had a wife.

David snorted. He didn't like the way they looked at his wife. 'Perhaps it is better for my wife to wear her mask to prevent anyone from peeping at her face.'

He took Anna and the sleeping child to a vacant sofa that was moved in the same place as the other soldiers. David let the child lay on the sofa, pillowing on his leg while he and Anna sat beside each other.

It was then that David finally caught sight of the small orange cat silently sitting on his wife's shoulder. He didn't notice it before but he guessed it was probably her or their child's pet.

He thought for a second if it is good for his wife and son to have a pet in this kind of environment. Come to think of it, the cat has been hiding inside her hood, it looks smart and it probably won't be a problem to keep it. In case it will be a danger for his wife and son, he would just kill it.

After deciding to leave the cat, for now, he took it away from Anna's shoulders and was pleased that it didn't even struggle in his grip, placing it beside his son, slipping on those little arms, making him feel funny that it was seeking for protection from a little child.

Shaking his head, feeling helpless to watch this kind of pet, David started to remove the bag and sword on Anna's back before frowning in discomfort. He almost threw the sword away. It was very cold like it would freeze his hand.

'Where did she get such a light and cold sword? It felt like holding a block of ice. Is this what she had been using to protect themselves? Wouldn't her hand feel pain from holding it?'

He had noticed that Anna's body radiated chilliness, worrying that she was feeling cold; it may also have affected the little child.

What he didn't know was Dave wearing protective clothing made of her frost ability, preventing the child from feeling any chilling effect, giving him a cooling freshness when the weather is hot.

Looking at Anna who seemed still in a daze, his mouth twitched. She seemed more shocked than him, who discovered having a child. This could even cost him to lose his rank or worse, his job as a soldier for laying his hands with a minor.

Anyway, now is the apocalypse and the previous laws were no longer effective. He would just insist that he truly didn't know how it happened, or maybe he could declare her as his hidden lover that got pregnant from their early love.

With a cunning glint in his eyes, David looked at his wife with a satisfied smile before kissing her lips again, pulling her towards him, making her head lean in his chest. "Sleep. Don't worry. I am here. I will protect you both."

'Hold on. What did he say? Why Did that sound familiar?' Anna finally came back to her senses and thought of what happened.

Her lips couldn't help twitching after she finally digested what had transpired. Anna felt ridiculous. She shamelessly claims to the protagonist that they had a child, but who knew he was David Bradley.

Anyway, he was the protagonist and it would be better to stay with someone who could protect them. There is also no problem if he would find out about her space since he did have one. It was the necklace that kept the drop of blood from the so-called gods. But it was smaller than hers, only the size of a football field.

"I don't need to sleep." Anna finally uttered after calming herself. But she didn't try to struggle from his arms. Lifting her head to look at his face, "Are you honestly David Bradly? How could you prove it to me?"

"How can you also prove that I am the father of your child," His lips twitched while thinking, 'Isn't too late for you to react this way?'

She was already in his arms, now she wanted to deny him? No way. He won't let her leave. Whether what she said was true or not, he had decided to become her husband and father of the child.

David had never seen a woman more beautiful than any celebrities and had never been tempted by any woman, but she is an exception. She offered herself, so why would he reject?

Anna's lips twitched. She didn't expect him to be so shameless. Anyway, it was said in the story that he instantly fell in love with the girl at first sight. It would be strange if he would let her go, what more she said they have a child. He would surely take it for granted.

"I almost forgot, my dear wife, what is your name?" He whispered, not letting anyone bear his voice. "If ever someone asked how you became my wife, just let them know you were my childhood lover. It would be easier for you and our child to stay with me."

He thought for a second, with a cunning smile hidden in his lips, "Besides, you and our child would get resources as a wife and son of a soldier when we get back to the safe base."

"Okay." Anna readily agreed. She didn't have any clear destination, so going with him would be fine. "My name is Anna."

As for the resources? She didn't care. She could look for it by herself. Even though she didn't need to sleep, Anna still closed her eyes, leaning on his broad chest to take a rest.

David nodded in satisfaction. Although she was suspicious, he didn't care as long as he had the beauty in his arms. He could just let his parents know he had been keeping his lover all these years and got separated before knowing she had his child.

When the sun came up, the other soldiers also woke up but were astonished to see their devil boss resting with a beautiful woman in his arms. There was even a child hidden in his hood next to him.

They looked at each other, then to the two soldiers who were on the lookout last night, full of inquiries, but only shrugged their shoulders. They also didn't know what was going on.

When David opened his eyes, it turned sharp as he glanced at them, lowering his head to look at the woman leaning on his chest. "Wife, it's time to wake up."

His soft but hoarse voice made the other soldiers stunned with widened eyes in disbelief. They couldn't help trying to clear their ears, thinking they might have heard it wrong. How and when did their devil boss have a wife? Then, the child was their leader's child?!

Anna frowned, but slowly opened her eyes. She instantly recalled her situation and didn't expect she would suddenly fall asleep. She also didn't forget to change the color of her pupils while her face was still leaning at that broad and strong chest.

When she lifted her head, she was stunned to receive a hard kiss on her lips. Looking at the man next to her, her lips couldn't help but twitch. This man was again taking advantage of her.

She noticed that there are burning gazes falling on her body. Anna turned her head and felt very embarrassed seeing many soldiers had their eyes on her, full of inquiry and curiosity. Her cheeks turned red, making her look more lovely.

David's face instantly turned black. He throws a warning gaze to his subordinates before looking at Anna, "Wear your mask, and don't let those ugly goblins look at your pretty face."

The blush on her cheeks instantly turned even redder, but Anna quickly took her mask, wearing it to hide her face before covering her head with her hood. She heard those soldiers grumbling, full of disappointment, making her more embarrassed, and leaned again on his broad chest.

She could feel David's chest trembling as he chuckled, caressing her back as he said in a low tone. "Don't mind them."

Before Anna could respond, Dave also woke up and instantly got up from the sofa in a panic, searching for her. He was no longer wearing a mask as Anna removed it last night, making the child feel more comfortable in his sleep.

When he found Anna leaning on a man's arms, Dave was confused, "Mommy!"

Everyone turned flabbergasted, looking at the child who looked similar to their boss and Anna who took him in his arms. The child was looking curiously at David, making them feel confused about what was happening.

"Aren't you going to introduce me to our child? He grew up without me, he might think his daddy is a bad guy." David said with nervousness.

He was also stunned after seeing the little boy's visage, although he couldn't find any similarities between the child and Anna aside from their blue eyes, he still looked 50% similar to him. 'So, this boy is truly my child?!'

Stunned by what he heard, Dave looked at Anna with confusion. He didn't know when he had another Daddy. But when he remembered that Anna will be his mother starting last night, he asked. "Did mommy find me a daddy?"

David felt stiff while his face darkened with the thought that his wife would find a daddy for his child. "No, I am your real dad and husband of your mommy."

This confused Dave even more. He knew that Anna wasn't his real mother, but what was the big brother talking about being his real daddy? He couldn't help looking back and forth at Anna and the man beside her.

"Baby, his name is David, your daddy. Just like mommy." Anna said after clearing her throat, hoping Dave understood what she meant.

Fortunately, Dave was smart. Since she said he would be like her, it means he will be his new daddy like Anna as his new mommy.

His eyes brightened and nodded his head in acknowledgment. "Mommy is Anna, Baby is Dave, Daddy is David."

Dave's words made David's heart jump in delight. His gaze softened while thinking that his son's name came after him. He watched his son look around for the cat which was tossed on the ground when he was in a hurry to get up and look for his mommy.

The cat jumped back at the sofa, ignoring David's sharp eyes as it started to clumsily climb in Anna's legs and to Dave's arms. It started meowing softly in contentment.

They didn't notice that those soldiers who remained on the spot, watching them silently, frozen in shock. Their brain was about to explode after discovering that their devil boss had a child who looked similar to him. It was enough for them to believe that the little boy was their boss's biological child!

What is more surprising was they didn't seem aware of each other's existence. With their mind playing with different kinds of scenarios, the looks in their eyes towards their devil boss instantly turned bad.

They have always looked up to him, yet now they found out he had a child without even knowing about it. Not just that, the mother of his child looked very young, looking around 18.

Could it be that their boss dared to touch a teenage girl and get her pregnant?! Did he leave her without knowing they had a child? Does this mean she raised her son on her own in the past years while trying to survive in the apocalypse?! How could their boss be very irresponsible?!
