Chapter 1The Burden

It was just a normal summer day in Travisville Texas. The air was too hot to breathe in and the desert sands too hot to stand on. The smart folks of Travisville stayed indoors all summer but Destiny was determined for this summer to end magically. After all she endured in the last school semester she would not have it any other way but this way. Destiny Trammel was from a family who escaped persecution in the witch trials in Salem Massachusetts during 1692 and ended up in the scorching desert of Travisville Texas. She wasn't sure why her family chose such a horrific place to live and raise their family. She loved everything to do with the cold or even the warm but hot was just not her cup of herbal tea. Destiny wondered why here so much it gave her bad headaches. She tried her best to fit in and after several centuries she started loosing hope. It was such a burden living in such a place lacking of trees, lack of water, and lack of wildlife. She missed Salem Massachusetts so much and couldn't wait for her family to agree it was time to go back. Besides witches in this new day and age was just known as a myth anyways to the normals at least. She couldn't help but wonder why they stayed because their amongst them were vampires and werewolves and elves and everything else. Travisville was always only creatures. Destiny never once seen a real person before. Of course she wouldn't be able to speak to them if she did. The vampires made it a law not to breed or speak out of your clan. You could be executed if caught. They were called the council of law bearing mostly because they couldn't die as easily as the other creatures so no one crossed them at least not to live to talk about it. That's why it was also so burdensome their was only one other witch family and they didn't have any sons for Destiny to be wedded to. Not that she would because Destiny believed in destiny not slavery. Being forced to wed was slavery to her and would have nothing of it.
