1 Demon Child

"Is anyone there?"

"Someone, anyone?"

The scared little girl roamed around looking for something -- anything.

As long as it's not them. Anything is fine. She would rather die than see them again.

Who were they?

They were the ones who ruled everything from the shadows. They were the ones that poisoned her parents. They were the ones who had kept her in a prison. They were the ones who had tried to kill her every day but failed. They were the Council.

When the portal to another dimension had been opened, they were established to stop the invasion of the Vaki. They were meant to be protectors but in her eyes they were murderers.

Murderers that killed her village.

Why?

Because of the demon child born there. Because of her.

...

After an hour of searching and not being able the find anyone, the little girl burst into tears.

"Is it OK. Don't cry, little girl. I am here for you." A delicate hand gently patted her head. The girl took comfort in the voice and stopped crying. Looking up she saw a kind young man smiling at her.

Just as she got calm enough to thank her helper, she heard an excited voice shout, "Amazing! How is your hair so soft and smooth? It's like Wren Silk but even better! I want it!" While saying this he had taken the liberty to grab my hair and was currently playing with it as a baby does with its first toy. He definitely could not let go of this chance. Look at this hair! Even his could not compare! He must bring this little girl back and extract the secrets in her hair. His mood was extremely joyous as he continued to play with his new toy.

On the other hand, the little girl was getting more miserable by the second. She had thought that she had finally come across a kind gentleman. But now it seems that she had run into a weirdo who is obsessed with hair! Of all things why hair? Her hair was one of the few things she liked about herself. But she might not be able to keep even that!

No! That can not be allowed to happen. She must keep her hair safe!

Pulling herself away from the weirdo, she lept back and said, "Please, Uncle, let me keep my hair. I ..." She was about to continue when she saw that the weirdo's face had turned an unnatural pale color. His hand gripped his heart as he looked at her in horror. Being the kind girl she was, she said, "Are you OK, Uncle?"

The man's face paled even further that was even possible.

"U... Un... Un...Unc" He kept repeating.

"Uncle, are you OK? Do you have Alzheimer's due to your old age?" She asked, genuinely concerned now.

She had once overheard the head guard talking about how his father had Alzheimer due to old age and could not even remember his name most of the time. She thought that this person in front of her had the same disease since he was struggling to remember what he wanted to say. She reasoned that the pale face was a symptom of the illness.

"UNCLE! OLD!" He screamed. He then took out a mirror out of who knows were. Looking at his face, he sighed with relief. Just as he was about to put the mirror away, he saw a bit of dust on his face.

"DIRT! Get it off! Get it off! Get it off!" His heart was too weak to handle the stress so he fainted. Just as his body was about to land on the ground, a servant dashed out of the nearby forest and caught him.

"My life is saved." The servant said this as the whole team of servants came out of the forest. Completely ignoring the girl's existence, they placed the weirdo on an overly decorated stretcher and carried him away.

As they disappeared into the distance, the girl was left speechless.

After all, it was just a speck of dust...

Is this the right size for a chapter? Or should I make it longer? Please inform me of your opinion.
