I decided to do something special for our first date. I entered the coordinates into the console of my ship. The scouter visor was very convenient. It displayed an altered reality display noting all of the control functions of the ship.
Bulma was in the main hangar putting the finishing touches on a high powered communications satellite. We were going to drop it off at the edge of the solar system.
Along with aiding long range communications, it was going to serve as an early warning system for objects and ships entering the solar system. There would have to be additional satellites placed for communication between space sectors and systems. There was plenty of time to do something like that later.
"Standby for launch." I said keying in the launch sequence.
Bulma stowed her tools in her red tool box before running up the stairs to the cockpit. She was wearing a red Capsule Corp. hat, a yellow one-piece garage suit, and brown gloves. When she secured herself to her seat with thick twin straps that buckled at the waist, I hit the launch button.
The ship hovered momentarily to retract the landing gear before blasting out of the atmosphere.
This was the first time we actually experienced the ships space travel function. It was much faster than when it was set to terrestrial mode for planetary travel. It took only seconds for the ship to reach the coordinates set for the satellite to be deployed.
"Whoa, I can't believe we're already at the edge of the solar system!" Bulma exclaimed, "We're actually in space!" she quickly celebrated before regaining her composure.
Bulma started typing on the console in front of her chair.
"Launching satellite." she said. I could see the blink satellite with the large Capsule Corp. logo on the side. The Briefs family really know how to brand products.
A few seconds later she engaged the travel mode once more and we were off, hurtling through the dark abyss. Even at our current speed it was going to take a couple of weeks to get to our destination. I spent most of my time training, while Bulma made sure everything was functioning as it should.
During the journey I was forced to only do basic training because the gravity chamber drew too much power from the engines during full speed flight. I did ask Bulma about it but she informed me this was the most advanced technology ever created on Earth.
One week into the trip and Bulma had worked all of the bugs out of the ship. She was confident that there should be no problems with its operation. It didn't take long before she found a new hobby, observing my training.
Being watched through a glass panel made me feel like I was a zoo animal.
"Hey, since you are watching, why not come let me give you some pointers?" I asked through the intercom, since sound from the gym was dampened. She thought about it for a few seconds before entering the gym.
"What kind of pointers?" she asked.
"Well, I was thinking I could get you to through a decent punch before we get to where we are going." I stated.
"I know how to punch, for your information." she crossed her arms, "And where are we going? You still haven't told me."
"No, you can't punch. I have seen you try." I laughed, "And I told you where we are going is a surprise."
In the end she went along with my idea. I had her throw several punches towards my raised hands. I taught her a proper form and watched her practice. She was wearing the same intense look she used when working on machinery. After practice, she let me give her a list of strengthening exercises and stretches.
In the cockpit of the ship, Bulma and I stood in front of the view screens. We had finally arrived at our destination. During the journey, I was actually successful in teaching her how to punch properly and kick too. While she ended up teaching me, card games. She always won. I didn't know if she was really good or cheating.
On the screens was an overgrow lush green world with a sizable ocean.
"This is what I wanted to show you Bulma." I stated solemnly, "This is Turos. The first world I had to conquer in the name of Frieza. I thought it would be inhabited by now, but I did hear rumors from older Saiyans that Frieza just forgot about some of the planets he made us destroy."
She gasped at the revelation.
"I know you told us before your people conquered planets but I never thought I'd see one." she stared at the planet on the screen. "Why did you bring me here for a date?" Bulma sounded irritated.
"I wanted you to see where I began... And also where I'm going." I answered. "I would have showed you Planet Vegeta, but nothing is left of it."
"What does that mean?" she asked.
"I had to conquer worlds in the name of Emperor Frieza. My goal is to take everything Frieza has and become emperor of the universe." I explained. "Unlike Frieza, I have no interest in wanton destruction of planets. I plan to improve my universe, not destroy it. I showed you this because I wanted you to know what type of trouble that will follow in my wake. I will end up the enemy of many galactic powers one day."
"Honestly, I would've been worried if you said you were going to lead a normal quiet life." she laughed. "Just tell me Earth is going to be ok."
"I gained many benefits from Earth and spent more time there than on Planet Vegeta. I won't let other people destroy what belongs to me, and I count the Earth as one of my homes." I clenched a fist with confidence.
"Well you don't lack ambition, which is good because I'm ambitious too." Bulma covered her mouth as she laughed mischievously. The view screens began to flash red with a message on the screen.
TRANSMISSION FOUND!
Bulma made her way to the pilot seat and donned the scouter visor. She typed some commands into the console and the flashing message on the screen was replaced with an audio transmission.
"If anyone is reading this help! Our ship is damaged and we are being pursued by pirates! We are in need of assistance, please, help us!"
"The transmission is coming from the edge of the system." Bulma informed me.
"It isn't really our problem." I shrugged.
"I thought you wanted to be an emperor? How can you pass up a chance like this? Those people might have valuable technology or information. I'm sure they will feel obligated to help you if we save them." Bulma nodded like it was obvious.
"Looks like you are already trying to be an empress, with planning like that. Let's save a ship." Bulma blushed at my statement. It was a good plan.
When the ship came into view, we could see that it was a very sleek design of a gray metallic material with thin grooves running along it. Inside the grooves different colored lights flashed intermittently.
The ship pursuing the vessel looked like a ship common among the Frieza forces. It was a saucer design with bubbled widows lining the rim of the ship. My ship was about a third of the size as the pirate ship.
"Bulma would you open a channel to the pursuing ship?" I asked my partner in crime.
"Channel open." she answered.
"Pursuing vessel, this is Raditz, identify yourself." I stood in front of the view screens waiting for a response. It didn't take long before an amphibious purple alien appeared on the screen.
"I am a lieutenant of the Black Zenith pirates. I suggest you leave or be destroyed. We already have our quarry, so consider it your lucky day and leave." the pirate commanded. Behind him I could see several members of his crew chuckle. They were a mix of different species, some looked human, others not at all.
"Noted." I deadpanned. "Bulma cut transmission and open a channel to the other ship."
"Channel opened." Bulma said.
"This is Raditz, I received your transmission. Prepare for rescue." I said. The ship being chased slowed its engines after receiving my message. In the hangar of the ship I found the emergency Capsule Corp yellow space-suits. Once I finished putting it on, I asked Bulma to get as close to the pirate ship as she could and open the hangar.
I was deployed from the ship as Bulma flew over the pirate vessel. After powering up for a burst of speed I landed on the pirate ship and activated my magnetic boots. The place I was standing was just a few feet from the ships roof hatch. Since the pirates weren't going to just open the door for me, I decided to make my own.
BOOM!
My Riot Javelin tore a hole into the hull of the ship. Eight pirates met their end by being sucked out into the cold void of space. I quickly flew in before the emergency systems closed the breach. I moved in the nick of time, because as soon as I entered the ship the hull breach was sealed. Looking around the empty room I was in, I only saw one exit. The door was tightly sealed because of the hull breach in the room. I held my palm out towards the door and fired another Ki blast.
BOOM!
The door exploded. There were two dead pirates in the hallway, they were caught in the explosion. At the far end of the hallway, I saw two helmeted pirates pointing wrist mounted blasters my way.
"Stop where you are, intruder!" one of the pirates ordered.
I pointed my right index finger towards the speaker and fired a thin straight beam through the pirate's forehead. His friend reacted instantly firing five blasts in my direction. I quickly dodged around the blasts, vanishing, as I moved closer to my target.
CRACK!
A sickly sound reverberated in the corridor from me snapping the neck of the pirate. I removed the blaster from the pirate's wrist. After a quick examination I determined it was a level two Frieza Force blaster.
I didn't really have a use for it, but Bulma might enjoy it examining it for research purposes.
I activated my magnetic boots and began charging a Ki orb in my hand. I could sense the Ki of multiple people headed in my direction from around the corner. I waited until the first pirate rounded the corner before unleashing my attack.
BOOM!
The pirate and the wall behind him were vaporized in the explosion. The pirates that were following were sucked into the vacuum of space.
"Raditz, are you ok?" I heard Bulma ask over my helmet's headset.
"Yeah I'm fine." I answered. "I figured destroying the ship was the most efficient way to accomplish the mission."
I had found the engine room after killing ten more pirates. I charged my Ki into my hands. I took a short look around the room before tossing the orbs near the ship's reactor, causing them to rupture.
"Raditz, while you are on the ship, can you get their log data?" Bulma asked.
"Not gonna be possible, the reactor is about to go critical... but I did get you a laser gun." I replied.
"What? An actually space laser!" Bulma sounded excited.
I raced from the engine room back down the corridor I had destroyed earlier.
"I'm gonna need a quick pick up near the giant hole, in the side of the ship." I said leaping out into
the void.
Thanks to Bulma's expert piloting I was picked up, and we were able to get clear of the explosion. Now that pirates were out of the way, we could finally have a conversation with the ship we rescued.
They chose to hail us of their own volition.
"Thank you for the timely rescue." the ship's captain said. "I'm sorry we can't see each other our ship's cameras were damaged in the chase."
"Why were the pirates after you?" I asked the blank screen.
"We are on a mission to get help for our planet. It is under siege by pirates and they wanted to prevent us from seeking aid." the captain answered. "If you can help save us once more, I know our leaders will be eternally grateful."
I looked over to get my partner's opinion on the matter. She just nodded at me.
"Ok, we're in. What are the coordinates to your planet?" I asked.
"I'm transmitting it now." the captain said. "We will set off at once."
"We've received the coordinates." Bulma confirmed. "What is the planet called?"
The planet is call Gete, located in the Big Star System." the captain replied.
