The next days went by smoothly and before they knew it, another week had already passed. Kim Dong Yun and Kim Cho Ah were very pleased and at the same time, they were impressed when they heard that Min Jae held up well during the past few days of working at home. Even the kids were happier having their dad around. They would simply play together so as not to bother Min Jae as he worked. But from time to time, he would drop by their room to personally spend time with them too! With this, the children were already beaming with joy.
"Thank you for trusting us, Mr. Greene." Min Jae said in fluent English as he conversed with an American investor. "I will personally update you with our progress and hopefully, you can grace us with your presence as well when we launch this project next year."
The man on the screen nodded gleefully. "Of course, Mr. Lee. I wouldn't miss it for the world! I am very impressed with your company's objectives on this project and if given the opportunity, I would love to work with you again." Mr. Greene praised.
Min Jae smiled politely. "Likewise, Mr. Greene."
After their video meeting, Min Jae closed his laptop. He met with the board last night and he later contacted foreign investors. He hadn't properly rested since. As a result, he was now completely fatigued that he had to pause for a while.
He carefully helped himself up from his desk before settling down at one of the arm chairs in the study room. A few minutes wouldn't hurt. All he needed was just a few minutes and then he'll resume. He'll still need to drop by the office tonight so this might be his only chance to get some rest. Slowly, Min Jae closed his heavy eyes. It didn't take long before he finally drifted to sleep.
In the middle of his slumber, he half-consciously heard the sound of a child's laughter. Along with it was the sound of someone running down the hallway. Exhausted, Min Jae chose to dismiss them thinking that maybe little Hye Soo and Jung Hyun were just playing around. But before he could even sleep further, he was startled awake with the sound of the door slamming open.
"Daddy! Daddy!" Little Jung Hyun exclaimed. Min Jae rubbed his swollen eyes before sitting up straight to welcome his son. The young boy was bursting with energy as he was running about. Upon seeing his father, little Jung Hyun giggled as he quickly dashed towards Min Jae.
"What is it? Is it for me?" Min Jae asked as he gently picked up his son to sit on his lap. Little Jung Hyun brought with him a sheet of bond paper. Min Jae only caught a glimpse of its content earlier but now, little Jung Hyun hugged it close to him so that his father would not see.
Little Jung Hyun nodded vigorously. "Close your eyes, dad. It's a surprise!" He said before reaching with his little fingers to close Min Jae's eyes himself.
"Okay, okay! They're closed." Min Jae lightly chuckled. Sighing, he wondered out loud for his son to hear. "Oh no, what could my intelligent, adorable, handsome and lovable son possibly bring me as a surprise today? I'm excited to see it. Can you show me already little Jung Hyun?"
"Dad, I said no peeking!" Jung Hyun scolded. Min Jae obediently followed the little one's command. When little Jung Hyun was finally convinced, he flipped the bond paper to show Min Jae. "Okay, you can open your eyes now!" He announced.
Min Jae opened his eyes slowly and coming into view was an artwork by little Jung Hyun. Using his crayons, he drew their family portrait wherein they were holding hands and there were big smiles on their faces. Not only that, little Jung Hyun's grandparents were in the background too! Even Mrs. Bong was there!
"Daebak! Since when did you learn to draw nicely?" Min Jae asked as he looked at the details of his son's drawing. It was just a simple drawing yet he knew that the little guy put his all in it.
"My teacher kept giving us drawing assignments." Little Jung Hyun said. "Look! I wasn't sure if I drew Mommy right, that's the best I could do." He frowned.
Min Jae's eyes flickered to his son's drawing of Eun Young. Honestly, it wasn't bad at all. Her portrait resembled her image in real life. Her skin was white as milk, her hair was long and wavy, even her cheeks were blushing. "I think you did a great job, buddy. Your Mom looks pretty." Min Jae complimented.
"Really?" Little Jung Hyun's eyes glowed with excitement. "You can have it then!" He declared. Min Jae grinned as his son handed the paper to him. He was already thinking of framing it and displaying it somewhere in the study room. Surely, the little one would like that.
Min Jae was still admiring the picture when suddenly, his son spoke out of the blue. "We'll stay together forever, won't we, Daddy?" Little Jung Hyun suddenly asked.
Min Jae blinked upon hearing his words, surprised that his son's thoughts were like this. Before he could even begin to think of a response, little Jung Hyun immediately spoke again. "I really wish Mommy and Daddy would always stay together so that they won't leave little Hye Soo and me. I promise I'll be a good boy! Look, I even drew myself here with a pencil and a notebook on hand because I will study very well in the future. Mommy said she won't worry anymore if I do." The young child shared.
Min Jae's heart tightened as he listened to him carefully. However, little Jung Hyun then turned to ask him next. "What about you, Daddy? What can I do so that you will not worry anymore?" At that moment, Min Jae saw little Jung Hyun's innocent eyes. The little child was just curious yet somehow, his words very impactful. If the time comes that he and Eun Young weren't together anymore, would he ever see little Jung Hyun like this again? Carefree and joyful?
The little one eagerly waited for an answer. A few seconds later, Min Jae spoke to reply. "Always take care of your mother and your sister..." He said, looking deeper at his son's eyes. "If you do that, then Daddy won't worry anymore."
