Shocking Truth!

Yue flew forward at breakneck speeds, his fist hurling towards the Avatar of the Library which had remained in it's original position in the air staring at him with an eerie smile, the smile put him on high alert - it projected a immense amount of confidence in oneself, an aura of one that has gone undefeated for centuries; the aura of a Emperor.

"Too slow Little Yue." With a light sigh the Avatar fazed from existence, blending into the world around it - Yue spread out his Spirit Sense but found nothing, the Avatars body hadn't simply merged with the air; it had fused with the world itself, the find the Avatar was the same as finding the World, it was everywhere around him like an encircling cage.

Despite not being able to locate his opponent Yue remained unfazed and focused, the combat experience of millions of Immortals accumulated in his head, simply one of the other ways in which he was special - where others only reviewed the lives of the Immortals, he relived them, despite only watching both the Start and End of their lives - a piece of him would split off and experience the Immortals entire life, it was a subconscious process, like a leech he made what was theirs his but like how he felt no Physical fatigue it was another mystery to even himself but still a secret he had kept well from the other Disciples and Elders.

"Spirit Burst." Calmly the words came to his mouth - a technique from one of the very first books he had read. A wave of energy swept into the surrounding word disrupting the flow of World Energy, focusing his Spirit Sense he located the area where the energy wasn't chaotic - like a mountain it remained unfazed by the turbulent seas beneath it.

Slowly he punched in the direction of the 'mountain', the punch was slow yet fast - hard yet soft. In an instant he was next to the 'mountain', the force of the punch carrying him with it - in the next moment his fist had made contact with the 'mountain' he felt it crack, but he also felt panic; panic from the Avatar.

Before he had even gotten a chance to recover the Avatar revealed itself again, it instantly fled to the other side of the arena looking at Yue in shock.

"Fight! Fight!" Chants came from the crowds in the Arena, the look of shock on the Avatars face went as soon as it came; it couldn't allow itself, a unparalleled being despite his current state to appear weak in front of these ants it thought to itself, refocusing himself on the boy in front of him - what he had thought would be a straightforward battle was turning into one in which it might actually die; cursing its main body for not telling it this before the realization of which techniques Yue had used to attack him suddenly hit him, the look of shock once again forming on his face before turning into a mix of anger and horror.

"How.. how did you learn those techniques?!" With a frenzied shout the Avatar looked at him with fury, during these countless era's the Library had obviously allowed the people of the dimension to learn battle techniques and cultivation techniques, yet it had strictly controlled the distribution of them, using the excuse of having 'picked the most suitable' for each person it was a flawless explanation to the people who already revered it. The thought of Yue having learnt these from the books was even more so incredulous because it had the Elders place seals on every book apart from the Start and End.

Not bothering to reply Yue continued to stare with a fiery gaze at the Avatars injured body, the puppet it was using to battle him had already shown signs of breaking - although the Avatar could still battle with its spirit form it was neither the main body nor incredibly powerful in that regard - instead it would instantly be obliterated if it had to face the spirit sense Yue had previously released when searching for it.

"Tch, Brat you're going to die for this!" It sent a mental transmission to him, Yue had managed to fully enrage the Avatar, it had planned to toy with Yue - showing off its might to the rest of the populace, further implanting the fear they already held towards it and increasing their respect and reverence; in its mind the plan was foolproof, after all how could a child defeat it! Even if it was only but a portion of the main body.

"Death Seal!" Condensing it's Spirit energy into the form a rune it locked Yue down by using its superior pressure from living for eras and fighting countless battles.

Yue allowed the pressure to lock him down, watching the cruel smile form on the Avatars face he realized this is the danger which he'd sensed - the Avatar was actually hiding such a card, one that could instantly kill him if it latched itself to his soul, 'That's only if that thing can hit me of course..' Laughing to himself mentally he allowed the pressure to lock him in place.

"Despicable! Using experience to pressure a junior, you should be ashamed!" A loud voice interrupted the scene, voicing its thoughts to the rest of the crowd - it wasn't long before agreeing voices also came out and protested against the unfairness of the battle. "Cheater!" "Forfeit you despicable spirit!" Almost as if planned voices came from multiple sides of the crowd, influenced by the first few the rest soon joined in until almost the entire crowd was protesting the battles fairness.

The Avatar started its approach using its abilities it tried to quickly memorized the face of the first voice it had heard but no matter how much it looked it couldn't find the source of the voice before more voices called out making it impossible to successfully locate the main perpetrator.

Gritting its teeth it approached Yue, erasing the look of annoyance on its face it stared him in the eyes, a vicious grin on its face - no longer caring for how the crowds and people viewed him, it had to end this fast; there were too many unexpected variables in this fight.

"Goodbye you little sh*t." Its arrogance on full display for everyone to see, Yue was shocked upon realizing this was the Avatars true self - it made no excuses to hide the change in attitude but it was clear that the Avatar was more comfortable viewing himself as high above the rest of the people there. Doubts crossed his mind, ignoring the brooding Avatar who was slowly approaching spurting insults with every step, since this is an Avatar of the Library - is this what its true self is?

The thought remained in Yue's mind for a much longer time than he had, within seconds the Avatars hand would reach his chest - attempting to pull out his heart and hold it on display, a threat it had made mere moments before.

"Die." Yue muttered before breaking free of the shackles the pressure had placed on him, they broke like brittle bones, swiftly.

"How, you!" But those were the only words it was allowed to say before Yue's fist connected with the head of the Avatar, Spirit energy infused into the punch to destroy both the body of the puppet and the spirit of the Avatar itself.

"Ccrrrr" A deafening sound roared as the wooden body of the puppet broke, the inner core opened to reveal a jet black pearl; the core of the Avatar.

The roars of the crowds stopped there were many different reactions: gasps came from those who knew what the core meant, the children looked in confusion at their parents, the parents stood still - some in shock and some just as confused as their children.

"Pearl Heart Core!" It wasn't long before an old man from the previous generations shouted, the shock evident in his voice. "Quickly destroy it!" No sooner was it said were multiple cultivators flying towards it as fast as they could, preparing their most fearsome attacks, whilst Yue stood there - his fist still approaching the core, he quickly reinforced it with energy putting his full force behind the strike.

"BANG!" His fist his the core, it exploded into several pieces of rock, the faint blackish red glow dissipated back into the world energy, confusion on his face - despite how well read he was, there was not once a mention of a Pearl Heart Core, usually Avatars are condensed from a Spirit Core, formed from the cultivators own soul and energy.

Looking back towards the old man who was also flying towards him with the other cultivators he asked, "What is that thing? What's a Pearl Heart Core?"

"Evil... Pure evil." Stopping to take a breath, having flown towards the core at incredibly fast speeds a toll had been taken on his energy - for someone of his age it had shortened the time he had to live.

"The core is formed by slaughtering 10,000 beings at the Universe Prince Level, 100,000 of the Dimensional Palace Level and over a quadrillion newborn mortal babies. The core would take eras to create - but the pure energy within it would allow one to either create an Avatar or achieve a breakthrough a Demonic Path.."

Disgust formed on Yue's and everyone around hims faces - they couldn't believe that the Library had created such a thing, yet the worst news was yet to come.

From the sidelines more cultivators had flew to the middle of the arena in time to hear the explanation, "But.. but.." Sobs could be heard from the group that had approached, a man was curled in a ball holding his knees. "We're doomed! F*cking doomed!"

The man had fallen delirious, for a cultivator this was the same as never progressing again - yet to reach this level everyone had wills of iron, almost unbreakable. Yet, for one to instantly go crazy...

Looking at the man who remained curled in midair, a few approached him and tried to comfort him - asking him what had happened and how he had fallen so low, many being what looked like family, a woman who Yue assumed to be his wife held his head - he watched as the man whispered into the woman's ear, she paled in an instant.

Looking up she saw the questioning gazes of the many others around her, composing herself she stood up and stood to address the inquisitive looks, trying hard to keep tears out of her eyes.

"My husband.. Jacob... he said... he said.." Looking pained to talk she stopped and took another second to compose herself before beginning again.

"He said that he'd read in the hospital medical notes, about four eons ago - the people of that time would experience the death of a newborn baby every year, the cause of death always being marked as unknown. He also said he'd found notes, notes claiming the Spirit of the Library to be responsible for everything... everything! Every premature death of every cultivator that has lived in this damn place.."

Yue turned to face the old man who had warned of the Pearl a few minutes before, clearly anxious the man was looking around nervously, when he saw Yue's gaze he looked at him with a bitter smile, "I was checking the surroundings for any Spirit Scans being made subtly, we can hope that the Library doesn't know we've discovered this little secret.. but I fear, we're already in danger.."

In that moment the ground shook, the cultivators who had been flying above the arena were shook out of the sky - instantly dropping.

Those with stronger bodies survived with minor injuries, those that didn't barely survived with heavy injuries from the fall however the old cultivators nearing the end of their lifespans who had come to offer their thoughts on the situation had all been killed by the impact. A bitter look crossed Yue's face as he saw the scene, shaking his head trying to forget he looked towards the main gates of the Arena, in those slow moments they were being opened - sweat rolling down his brow then as if time stopped he and every other being in the arena had been froze in place, the pressure on a different level to that of the Avatars, from the main gates a slender figure stepped through - a cruel smile on her face...

Elder Skycloud..

Side Note:

Personally, I feel this chapter leaves a lot to be desired - its as if I've just rambled for a lot of it which has made me want to delete it all and rewrite it, which I have yet I just can't find any other way to present the details without having an info dump and incorporating as much of the story and action as possible, having failed at the action parts significantly in my personal opinion.

Feel free to leave your critique, it is very much welcome, any improvements or personal opinions will help me improve future chapters to the best of my ability!

The next chapter I promise will be much better than this! Thanks for reading ~ Aileus
