Blessing or a Curse

Ala distanced herself from the girl and dragon. Distracted she stared at Jayde. When she had found out Jayde had contracted Yinxin she had been furious. After 'reading' Yinxin memories, she had been grateful to the girl for contracting Yinxin just to bring her back to Doha.

She was impressed with how Jayde had done everything in her power to save and protect the four dragons, but she had still been determined to break the contract between the two, but now knowing that Jayde was one of his children — she was conflicted.

Millenniums ago, after his children were destroyed he withdrew from this world. Only to return when the last of her children fell, in his rage, he sundered the world and left.

Even after thousands of years, Ala still wasn't quite sure how she felt about his actions. On one hand, she was secretly thrilled he had avenged the deaths of her children.

When he disappeared after his children were butchered, she had patiently waited for his return, but thousands of years went past, and he never returned to her side. He had broken her heart, they had been together for thousands of years, and he had just abandoned her.

When he sundered the world, a small part of her at that time had even wondered if his actions had meant he still cared for her, but mostly she was horrified at what his wrath had wrought. He knew the destruction of Doha would start a catastrophe like never before seen.

Certain planets were vital to the stability of a dimension, they acted as anchors, and Doha was the main anchor for this dimension. With Doha's destruction, this whole dimension would have started to unravel. It would have taken hundreds of thousands of years — but in the end, this dimension would have ceased to exist — wiping out trillions upon trillions of lifeforms.

What affects the destruction of the dimension would have had on the other dimensions Ala did not know, but she was sure there would have been a knock-on effect, and the repercussions would have been felt across the entire universe.

Ala had been forced to expend all her energy just to keep Doha from being destroyed, so in tearing this world apart he had nearly destroyed her. She often wondered if he had expected her to abandon Doha as he had.

Trying to keep Doha alive had all but drained her, and now that she was nearly depleted, parts of the world were slowly rotten away. A strange malady had infected the deepest parts of Doha, eating away at the remaining vitality of the planet.

Ala had been forced to butcher parts of herself to try and prevent the contagion from spreading, but she was too weak, and despite her best efforts the disease was spreading.

Yinxin return had bought her hope. Silver dragons were bonded to Doha, they had the power to restore the vitality, and repair the damage done.

But above all else, Yinxin and her daughters carried a very special bloodline, and if they survived they would restore the silver dragons lineage, bringing back so much of the magic Doha had lost. They could even restore herself, and with her power restored she would be able to restore Doha back to her formal glory.

Ala wondered though was Jayde's presence a blessing or a curse.

Would he return when he sensed Jayde's presence? Thinking of seeing him after so many eons, Ala wasn't quite sure how she felt about it. Just the thought of seeing him raised conflicting emotions in her, she was excited, nervous, fearful and angry.

Worried that her emotions were getting the better of her and that the two girls might notice her, Ala quickly side stepped out of the dimension. She didn't leave the dimension exactly, leaving would have required too much energy. She just stepped into the space in-between.

All mages who could teleport used the in-between space. It was a flexible part of the universe. When a mage teleported, what they did in essence without being aware of it, was to fold the space around them.

Teleporting using the in-between space was like having a piece of paper. If you drew a dot on the top of the piece of paper and another on the bottom piece, and you drew a line between those dots, you could imagine how far the distance is between the two points.

If you had to expend Qi to travel in a straight line, it would require a vast amount of energy to commute between point A and point B. But if you folded the piece of paper so that point A and Point B touched, you would only require a small amount of energy to move between the two points.

All mages who could teleport did this automatically without being aware of it, but Ala being a deity could actually bring herself physically into the in-between space. Here she could still sense Doha, but no one on Doha could sense her as she was just a half step out of sync with the planet.

Ala spent some thinking about what Jayde presence meant for Doha and how this would impact her.

And what if he did return and found out that Jayde was destroyed just like the rest of his children, she thought. Just thinking about his reaction, and Ala's heart jumped in fear. His wrath last time had been terrifying.

Pacing inside the in-between space, Ala observed Jayde and Yinxin. Pacing back and forth, she chewed on her thumbnail, stressing about Jayde and Yinxin existence on Doha.

No! I can not allow anything to happen to these two, Ala thought. Filled with determination she stepped out of the in-between space, wrapping herself in a cloak of invisibly she approached Jayde and Yinxin.

Touching Jayde's mind lightly, she tried to read her thoughts. Ala was really surprised that Jayde had such a strong mind block in place. As far as Ala was aware only beings from the Upper Realm knew how to block their minds.

Since she couldn't read Jayde mind, she gently touched Jayde's soul. What she read from Jayde's soul blindsided her.

She was that demon king's true mate. Out of all the people — that Jayde ended up being Ren's true mate was beyond anything she could have imagined. Ala had known that Ren's true mate would be returning to this world soon, but she would never have imagined in her wildest dreams that it would have been this girl.

If anyone could protect her against the dangers coming it would be Ren, but while in contact with Jayde's soul, Ala also sensed deep-seated pain, fear, loneliness, and hatred within this girl.

Sadly, she wasn't ready yet to meet him yet. If anything Ren's desperation for his mate could jeopardize the bonding process. Like all demons he was highly possessive and protective, he would stifle Jayde, and she would rebel and refuse the bond.

Staring at Jayde Ala tried to think of a solution, then with a cunning smile, she waved her hand and weaved a small spell.

While she couldn't let the two meet yet, nothing prevented her from playing matchmaker.

Turning to her daughter Yinxin, she again weaved another spell, a lot stronger than the one she placed on Jayde, this spell would prevent anyone from sensing Yinxin and her children. Unless the person or beast actually laid eyes on them, they would never know that silver dragons had returned to Doha.

Her face bone white, Ala swayed with exhaustion. She had one more task to do, she did not have the strength to protect these two precious treasures, but she knew someone who could. It was time to call in a favor from an old friend.

After that, she would return to her place deep within the earth to slumber and recover some of her strength and wait for his return.

The man who had stolen her heart. Loved her so tenderly and passionately, then cruelly abandoned her and finally nearly destroyed her.

Her husband Deion, the God of War.

Jayde felt a strange cold breeze, turning around sharply, she scanned the area.

[Isha do you sense anything?]

[No Jayde, there is only you, Yinxin and Reiko. Why?]

[Hmm, not sure. Thought I felt something.]

[You being a worrywart Jayde,] Isha said laughing lightly.

Jayde wasn't so sure, she had definitely felt as though something was watching her. Scanning the area around her she couldn't pick up anything. The strange feeling of being watched disappeared, as though it had never been there.

Jayde still didn't relax her vigilance. She desperately wanted to summon Yinxin back, but Jayde hadn't see Yinxin this happy before, and she wanted to let her enjoy this moment.

Antsy Jayde paced around the area, scanning continuously, but after half an hour there had been no change, and Jayde tingling sense which always warned her of danger was quiet.

Relaxing slightly, Jayde returned to Yinxin side.

[Jayde!] Yinxin called out desperately in Jayde mind.

Jayde stomach clenched, as her heart dropped. Adrenalin flooded her system as her fight or flight instincts kicked in.

Oh, gods, I knew it — something is definitely wrong, Jayde thought. Withdrawing her sword. Jayde braced her feet apart, holding her sword with both hands, she prepared for combat.
