Visit (2)

Stephanie headed out towards her brother's room. She wanted to see the look on William's face.

From the looks of it, everything went well. Mia seemed fine, so Stephanie wanted to listen to William's point of view.

Her brother's mind worked differently compared to others. He has a one-track mind, and the track was straight away heading only on Mia's route.

Stephanie directly barged into Williams rooms, she found him lying on his bed as if thinking.

"So what's got you thinking that hard?" Stephanie asked looking at William curiously.

"Mia said that we should not have lunch together," answered William sadly.

"So I was thinking of a way for her to agree but in a way that will not make her think I'm pushing too hard, got any ideas?" William asked.

"In your dreams," Stephanie answered without delay.

"What?! Come on. Think with me," William pleaded.

"Did she give you a reason?" Stephanie asked.

"She said it will create rumors in the office and she wanted to avoid that," William said seriously.

"Great. Now all you have to do is think of a way so that the people from the company won't make this a big deal if you go out together," Stephanie said in delight. It seems she's enjoying her little brothers' suffering.

"I wouldn't be thinking so hard if I have an idea, would I?" William said exasperated.

"Then keep on thinking, you're the genius right," Stephanie said as if gloating.

Before leaving she added another sentence, "Oh, by the way, I'm planning on going to visit Aunty this weekend. I also wanted to visit our old house." With an evil grin, she left this sentence hanging in Williams' ears.

"That's it. I'll just get Aunt's approval and everything will be fine," William said grinning.

Company outing went without any problems. Some people got closer due to the activities, while others strengthened their relationships with their own cliques.

As for Mia, she was busy keeping a look out if William will approach her, but it seems he kept his promise as he did not approach her during the activities.

On the last day, William and Stephanie were not present, as they gave an excuse of being busy so they had to leave ahead of time.

Many of the single ladies in the company were thoroughly disappointed as all their preparations became useless. They prepared their swimwear and fasted for days just to lose a couple of pounds, some were successful while others did not.

Mia did not want to admit it herself, she was disappointed too as she was not able to see William on the last day. William did not message her and she does not know his number.

She did not want to bother Stephanie as it may lead to a misunderstanding. She decided to wait.

While Mia was spending the last day on the beach with her cliques, William was preparing himself.

He was now standing in front of Mia house's door while holding fruits and a bouquet of flowers. He did not want to visit empty handed but he felt he overdid it with the gifts.

Although he was panicking a bit inside, he was able to knock on the door.

Sfx* knock knock knock*

"Coming! Hold on a minute." As the person opened the door, what appeared in front of her doorstep was a handsome young man carrying a bouquet of flowers and a basket full of fruits and chocolates.

She gave the young man one more look before saying, "Young man, I think you knocked at the wrong house."

William with his full-on smile said, "Aunty don't you remember me?"

"I'm sorry young man, I do not have a relative as handsome as you. We were not blessed with genes as good as yours." The lady said kindly.

When William heard this he gave a hearty laugh.

"It's me, you really don't remember me?" William asked again.

This time the lady at the door held on the door handle, with scrunched up eyebrows and a questioning gaze. "You look like a nice man so you better back away and leave or else I will call the police. I know a scam when I see one," She said bluntly.

"No, no wait, it's me, William. Remember the little kid who used to play with Mia?" William said as fast as he could as Mrs. Hill was halfway closing the door.

"William?" Mrs. Hill said questioningly.

"Yes, William. I was Mia's classmate. Remember the scrawny little kid who gets easily embarrassed, I had bucktooth and always ate Mia's food," William said embarrassedly.

"Oh my God, William! That's you? You've changed a lot since I last saw you. Come in, come in." Mrs. Hill drags William inside the house.

Once William was in she checked if the neighbors outside saw William coming in. She sighed in relief as she saw that not many people were around as it was a time where most people are at work or school. The only thing was the expensive looking car parked in front of the house.

"What do you want to drink William?" Mrs. Hill asked while happily preparing the drink for William.

"Anything's fine Aunty," William replied while looking around.

There were pictures of Mia and her family all around. Elementary, high school, college, school festivals when she was younger, pictures when they went to the zoo and amusement parks.

William looked at the pictures with melancholy written all over his face.

"Here you go, William. I see you're looking at Mia's old photos," Mrs. Hill said while looking standing William.

"Yes, I wanted to be part of her life too," William said sadly.

Mrs. Hill suddenly got a glint in her eyes as she heard this. She then said, "Hold on a minute and sit on the couch, I've got photo albums that you can look at."

Just like that, the two people spent their time talking about Mia's growth and development through the years.

One was excitedly and animatedly telling a story while the other one was sincerely listening and digesting the information.
