First

"Honestly you should be more careful." Arata's mom scolded him as she got a wrap for his wound. He was taken with Erina back to where the parents were enjoying themselves. The girl was skill passed out and laying on the bench next to him.

"Oh, come on." His dad was in disagreement with his wife. "Sometimes you gotta take a few risks."

"It appears that's all you know what to do." A woman that Arata had never met before spoke up. She was the most well kept person out of everyone. Odd, since this was a casual event. Sure, there was no rules about dressing up, but this was for the kids really.

"Heh, but I'd say that's part of my talent." He laughed. However, all that earned was a grim look from the woman.

"You're Arata, correct?" She turned her focus to the son of the family. When she was looking at him, he felt as though he was being judged. Wasn't wrong about that feeling either.

"Y-yes." Arata bowed his head to show respect. "Yes, my name is Arata. And you are?"

"Jingu." She answered bluntly. "I'm Misei's mother."

"Her real name's Minai" His dad whispered over to him, much to the woman's chagrin.

"I'd appreciate if you allow me to make my own introductions." She scolded. "But that is my full name." Of course, given the age difference, it was expected that she only ever refer to her by last name.

"There, you should be much better now." His mother finished wrapping his arm. Arata moved it around a bit to get used to the restriction. It would've been a shame to cause it to open again and bleed more, especially given who he was sitting next to.

"Great, um, maybe I should wait here." He looked over at Erina's sleeping body. She looked so calm, which was a shock given why she was like that in the first place.

"Oh, don't worry about her." His dad told him. "We've got her taken care of." Though, both Arata's parents were unaware of why her parents were the only ones not here. He chose not to inform them of the details. It's not for him to tell them anyway.

"Besides." His mom continued on. "After all these years, I'm surprised you're not spending more time with that little friend of yours."

"I guess you're… What?" Arata turned to his mom in confusion. He had heard something similar once before. "Who are you talking about?"

"It's a bit disappointing to hear that you've forgotten." She lamented. "I never thought I'd raise such a forgetful son." He looked at her with deadpan eyes, remembering that time when he had real amnesia.

"Okay, fine." He relented. "I forgot, but if you remembered. How come you never told me?" At first, she thought he knew. However, it appeared that it was mere coincidence instead of a real reunion.

"You're smart, I'm sure you'll figure it out." He grumbled to that statement. This just seemed like some dumb game all the adults agreed to play with him. Even Minai seemed to think this was stupid too hearing her comments on this.

"Figure... What out?" It looked like it was time for a certain someone to wake up. Erina rubbed her eyes as she slowly brought herself up to a sitting position. It was a bit of a blur, but she somewhat remembered what happened before she blacked out. It was that reason why she was a bit concerned over turning her gaze to Arata.

"It's about that girl I knew when I was younger." He informed her. "You know, 'Y'?" She vaguely knew what he was talking about. But it wasn't something he really discussed with her. Not compared to some of the others. However, it turned out that his mother was aware of who it was. Which also happened to be one of the girls here.

"I see…" Arata couldn't tell why, but he could see that she apparently had a problem with that. "Well, that's sound good, right? That means you can find out who she is now."

"Yeah, it is." He wasn't as energetic as her, even if hers was just false bravado. Erina got up and left him, leaving the boy to mull over the possible girls that could be the one.

Obviously the reason that girl was refereed to by the letter 'Y', was because it had to be the first letter of her name. That would be Yuriko, who couldn't be it given their own past, Yurime, Yuki, and Yumeho. The last girl also seemed unlikely, given that they never hung out.

So that left only those other two girls. Was one of them really the one that was his childhood friend? Maybe even more than that given the content within his old journals. Though, if he forgot, it appeared that even either of those two forgot about him. So it also seemed like a moot thing to worry about.

However, at least he could put this whole thing to rest, and move on. But, where should he begin? Well, with only two choices to look for, a coin flip seemed like a good way of deciding. Heads, Yurime, Tails, Yuki.

"Heads." It was time to meet with the library committee then. Despite the fact that everyone was here for the same reason. Eventually, people started segregate into their small little groups. Generally with the ones they hung out with the most, for a sense of comfort. So Arata met with Yurime and the others who were sitting outside the rink. Getting their skates off after spending some time on the ice.

"Arata, I was wondering when my senior was going to decide to enjoy some real party celebration." Ichiri was the one that greeted him first as he came up to them. Something that usually happened whenever he entered the library during one of their meeting.

"I was starting to think you were ignoring us." Hifumi continued on.

"Well, I just wanted to make sure no one got neglected, but it looks like you've all been having a lot of fun." He said, coming up with a reason for why he was actually here.

"We have." Yurime smiled at him. "And I've got you to thank for that." If it wasn't for him, she wasn't sure where she'd be right now. But it certainly wasn't going to be filled with rainbows and sunshine.

"It's really no problem." He tried to downplay it. "But speaking of, I've noticed that you've been writing more for the newspaper lately."

"Yep!" When talking about reporting, it was like a light shone upon this girl. It really brightened her day just to think about it. "I've been doing more of that lately." However, something else was being neglected as a result.

"Hey!" Ichiri interrupted their conversation. "You missed it, but I did a double spin jump." She bragged, which was impressive to Arata.

"That's nice." He said. "Though, if you were worried about beating me. All you had to do was not fall." Arata laughed, this was something she really had her number on.

"Oh, and I went so fast backwards too." She continued on, much to his chagrin.

"Okay… You don't really need to rub it in." He muttered. Seeing this, Hifumi pulled the younger girl back.

"What are you doing?" Hifumi whispered. This wasn't new to her. Lately, it seemed that Ichiri only wanted to do things just to brag about them.

"What? I just wanted him to hear about it." She replied. "Is it so wrong for my senior to hear about some of the cool things I've done?"

"It's clearly annoying him. And what's with calling him that all the time. We're all of your seniors." While they were having their little conversation, Arata was busy talking with Yurime. He needed to get some clue to see if she really was the one from all those years ago.

"You have a good memory?" He probed her. To which she had some curious thoughts about why he'd asked her something like that. "You know, since you're one of the people that helped me get my memories back, I was just wondering if you had any tips to keep that from happening."

"That's easy, I just make sure I keep things written down." She answered. Sure, it might not stop cases of amnesia, but at least it gave her a chance to get a reminder.

So that means you keep a journal, right? I'm just saying, because I got one too." He made sure to bring that point up to allow her to feel safe. He didn't want her to close up on him now.

"Yeah, I do." She answered. "But don't think I'll just tell you what I wrote in it." She chuckled, it would be pretty stupid of him if he actually thought she'd just tell him what she wrote in there.

"Of course." He said, because there was another plan in mind. "But, if I played a guessing game for what, that's be fine with you, right?"

"Sure, you could try." He was able to convince her to drop her guard. Yurime didn't think he was a mind reader. So unless he was magician, he shouldn't know anything specific inside the journal. "But let's be real, I'm not some simpleton. You'd have to know me pretty well to know what I'd put in there."

"Really? So then, would the phrase, 'A + Y' not be in there?" Given her reaction, Arata could see that he hit the jackpot.

"'A + Y'?!" She yelped out, then immediately controlled her volume. "Of course that's not in there. I'd like to think I'm better than just writing some letters like that for no reason." She may have had a good talent for finding scoops, but when the tables were turned on her. Well, let's just say that her poker face needed some work.

"There's nothing with putting letters like that." He said, believing he'd crack the case. "After all, I've got them too."

"You do?" Yurime looked at him a little weary. "Does that mean you…"

"Of course." He answered, giving her a bit of false hope. "But, I'm sorry I didn't remember. How come you didn't say anything sooner."

"It's just that you I was worried that you wouldn't… Wait, what do you mean by you didn't remember?"

"I didn't think you'd remember, but you know, we knew each other when we were younger."

"But we didn't." Yurime certainly would've remembered him if that were the case. "Obviously, the only friend I had when I was younger was Yuriko." Now she was bewildered as to what he was referring to. She would've thought that whatever journal he brought up was current, rather than one from the past.

"Uh…" This threw a wrench into his dreams. "But, then. Why do you have that letter combination?"

"Th-there's no reason." Quickly she grabbed one of the other girl's shoulder. "Hey, maybe we should go get some drinks." Ichiri complained a bit about the idea, especially if they weren't going to take Arata with them. Yurime had to beg in whispering conversation to convince the two of them.

"Well, bye Arata!" Ichiri cheerfully said, as the three of them walked away. "We'll see you around."

"Bye…" This proved to be a dead end. Now he was only left with one person, but was she really the one? It was time to go look for Yuki.
