This story started good. But the more you read, the more you will get to understand, how trashy this story is. If you like an Mc with hero complex, but is also Hypocrite, disgust, ungreatful and backstabber. Then this story is for you. In this story Author, turns everyone into a villain, just to display his Hypocrite MC as Nice and Honest person.

Aren’t your summarising too much with that comment? See, this is exactly what I meant that you only focus on what Nick has done. You think that he is doing this and that so that he can be the ‘better person’. Remember Pator? A kid, a pawn in someone else’s plan. He died as punishment, disregarding any chance of redemption. Remember the massacre? They died as a consequence of Nick’s inexperience. A literal thematic piece of the story is that action have consequences - REGARDLESS OF INTENTIONS. Albert didn’t die because he was evil. In fact, the reason that Nick found conflict with him was so that he wouldn’t feel as guilty. Pretty selfish huh. That is still disregarding his actual reason to visit; Julian. Albert died as a result of Nick’s weakness. Albert died because he was already a target. I never said that what Nick did was right, he just didn’t have any fair options for him. The real bullshit, that you have problems with, is the unfairness in the story. I feel like you think that Nick isn’t affected by this unfairness, yet you forget that he goes through trauma and desperation. There are literal chapters where he goes through self-conflicting thoughts. Now? He is only living for his work - how is that even rewarding? Of course that would feel like watching a drone. So, what is the source of this unfairness? Fucking specters man. Cities are literally powered by people suffering from specters. It is actually so funny that you look for realism when you ignore the desperation caused by this unfairness. I don’t like or hate Nick’s character. I think he is interesting. What I enjoy most about this story is the world, so I can overlook the flaws of characters. A mistake simply becomes an element of the story. The funny thing is how inconsistency in characters could easily be blamed on specters, but Heat hasn’t done that a lot.

Nick is not nice nor honest, and I did not even attempt to portray him as nice or honest in the latter parts.

And.... how did you portray him?

Exactly, I feel the same. The more I read this story, the angrier I feel. Nick is one of the stupidest characters I've ever read about. It seems that the author doesn't know what he wants Nick to be. Nick's goals are to improve people's lives, but his actions are worse than those of a cruel villain. He kills people as if they were insects if that person "deserves it", but at the same time, he feels very bad when he kills someone who "doesn't deserve it" to the point of thinking about suicide. He thinks he has high morality and is the ideal person to raise a just world, but his actions only make things worse. It doesn't make any sense.

I couldn't bring myself to read this novel after 344 chapters..., From my point of view, this novel is fked up. Man It had so much potential but Author just had to destroy it, with this Kind of MC. I won’t be surprised, if Nick kills Millions of people and say, "It's for the good of humanity."

I find it difficult to try to comprehend what goes on in someone's head who actually thinks like this...

I mean, where did you get the idea that this world was sunshine and roses? It is very clearly stated how messed up the morale system is due to the existence of specters and zephyx extractors. The start of the story is literally in the slums where blood is tax money… Okay, I get it. This story isn’t for you. This world is pretty dystopian.

Bro did I say that this is a sun-shine world. Have you even read my review?! I have problem with Mc's problematic personality. From my point of view, I feel MC is like mimdless Robot, controled by the Author. He doesn't have any fixed personality. Author Changes MC's personality every few second and can't fix it one. And at end he chose to make the MC a hypocrite. You should read before you reply.

How am suppose to appreciate a disgusting character who goes and kills his friend, who goes and kills the person who helped him.... while saying that for the good of humanity you have die. I can't appreciate this kind of hypocrite and disgusting character. Lister, if you want to suck and ride the Authors D*** then, I won't stop you. But stop telling me to appreciate a character, who doesn't even feel like a character.

You missed my point. You think that his goodness would stay the same after all the events his has experienced. That is just dumb dude. You think he would continue working under someone who has completely lost his trust? You forget that his friend built that friendship over a corpse. It was only a matter of time until the MC found out. Revenge was simply overdue. You think that the MC wanted to kill his old mentor? You forget his options at the time. It was either to forget his dream or to make a sacrifice to keep it. The story would’ve basically ended if he didn’t make a sacrifice. Either he dies or becomes a background character in the world again. You hate how the MC is a hypocrite, yet you forget how his world is of full of hypocrites. Wonder why? It is simply power. It is literally a thematic piece of the story. Look at the authoritative groups, remember how all of them use corrupt means to maintain their power. If they didn’t, then they would have to lose more than their morals. They are long past the point of what they have done, instead it is how far will they go. The MC has simply become a main participant in this rat race. Now you can’t figure out his changes, but that is because you only look at what he has done. Think about what he has lost and what he has gained. Think about what he has kept and what he keeps hidden. The MC is certainly not a likeable character, but that doesn’t mean he has no character.
