This story will be your cup of tea if you're a Left-wing progressive (Liberal). The protagonist hates strong, decisive forms of governance. The author makes it seem like the fall of France's absolute monarchy is inevitable, but it's not - there's a reason why the the current French nation is the Fifth Republic. Oh, if this wasn't all, the leader of the Republicanism movement in this alt-history novel is a woman. From this alone, you should understand this author is a historical revisionist, the type who writes alt-history with the sole agenda to have historical societies emulate the socio-economic structure of the modern world (e.g.. legalise coitus with anything that moves). A huge disappointment to true, authentic, alternative-history fans out there.
