I'm a copywriter by trade but I'm trying to be a real writer. My first few attempts might not be great, but I'll continue working hard and hopefully someday I'll write a good story.

I'm sorry you feel this way. As I've said before, this is my first story and I was bound to make a lot of mistakes with it. My original intention was to write a story that only dealt with revenge but various plot threads got in the way and it became an ungainly chimera of what I originally wanted. Due to some personal life issues, I've had to take a brief break from it but the time spent away from the story has given me some clarity, and I'm sure you'll be pleased to know that I've decided to place this one on the shelf and will not continue writing it. I will post the remaining chapters that are already written as I edit them, but after that, I've decided to stop with this until I have a better grasp on storytelling so that I can fulfil my objectives with a new story under a new account so I can put this one behind me. Sorry you feel betrayed, but as I've said before, I can only try my best. Hopefully the next one will be better.
I understand what you're saying, and under different circumstances, this would be a good plan for him to follow. Right now, Mikhail is still dealing with how harshly her betrayal hurt him. She was his best friend, and his wife - I should have mentioned it again in the chapter, that she was Empress when Mikhail was Emperor as it would have added more emotion to their meeting - I might update the chapter to reflect that again. He truly loved her, and deep down I think he still holds onto some of that, despite everything - but unless something drastic were to happen, he'll never forgive her. Let's see how he deals with his feelings about all this in the future - your guess is as good as mine, I'm genuinely curious what he'll decide. Thank you for reading my story, I hope you're enjoying it :)
It's my first attempt at a chapter of minor world-building, the first time skip - although it's only a few months, and also the second attempt at showing other character's perspectives on Mikhail. Hopefully I'll get better at writing this sort of thing as I progress. My apologies, dear reader.
Thank you :)
This one is regression and revenge, dear reader.
Thank you for your kind words, dear reader. I'll do my best with this story. I love this genre and I understand your concerns as I share them as well. Our MC has gone through a lifetime of betrayal and you are correct in saying that it would be difficult for him to trust anyone again. All the best to you, and I hope you enjoy the story as it continues. I plan to update it daily so there's a lot more to come.
Since it has become customary for authors to provide the first review, I will do so as well. As I've stated elsewhere, this is my first stab at this type of format. My days are usually filled with the drudgery of copywriting for corporate clients, and it's slowly draining my soul, I have found writing this story to be a welcome relief from the monotony of my actual copywriting job. Although I hope I won't have to do this too often, as the story progresses I may have to come back to early chapters to retcon one or two minor things periodically. I will never nerf Mikhail, that's a promise I wish to keep. As much as I've planned ahead, there are some things that just happen, or seem more exciting or thrilling to have, and so I come back to the beginning to make sure it all makes sense. This is a story of revenge, but it will become something more in the future. This is a story of one man's journey of retribution and redemption, in the distant future it'll also become a story about what it means to wield power. I hope you like it.
