I know! They are all twisted up trying to balance over these precarious situations. The problem is they just don't know what will happen and the stakes are just so high that it has them jumping to worst case.

I was worried about that as well but it's more complicated than that. They were only getting information from Ian's knowing. There is another component that they will find out in the future and is the reason these children aren't in the millions by population. Thanks for the insightful comment!

I just look at it as these vamps are very old and traditional in a lot of cases. They wouldn't automatically question gender. Live and let live sure but they wouldn't start with the question. Does that make sense?

There usage also decreases each month as the newborn stage wears off. Not a lot but it would probably stretch to four + months.
