The prince’s testimony was heavy evidence because no one would dare question it except another powerful royal from the El Nino family. And if the prince testified in favour of Chief Idris, his lawyers would just need to mount little effort, and he would be declared not guilty.

The prosecuting side regularly called upon ‘witnesses’ and victims to speak in favour of the accusations levelled against Chief Idris. Most of the victims gave a tear-jerking account of their plight at the hands of Chief Idris. Despite the emotional weight of the victims’ recount, the defendant lawyers were not stomped. They argued that the recounts were nothing but a lie and defamation of their client, and they provided convincing evidence that cleared up every question mark or finger pointed at Chief Idris. At this moment, the aura in the room was that of domination on the defendant’s side; Chief Idris’ lawyers had done a good job of defending him in the first phase of the hearing, despite the short time they had to prepare for the case.
