Definitely not. He’d have to compete for the starting spot and usually the upperclassman wins the spot if both players are even in skill. Here’s an example for you when Tom Brady was a senior at Michigan he battled Sophmore Drew Henson for starting QB. Coach Carr would play one guy in the 1st quarter then the other guy in the 2nd and whoever did better would finish the game. But in game 6 against Michigan State Henson stunk it up and threw an interception in the 3rd and Carr put Brady back in when they were down by 17. Brady almost won it the game ended 34-31.
