He's actually quite aware xD Liu Wei is quite perceptive, so he can pick up on some clues. It's just that he spent most of his time away from society, so he lacks some skills when it comes to socializing. Delaying was not completing the mission, but rather extending it, so that Yu Qingyu would have more time to finish it. But it was stated at the very beginning that the end goal is to lead to Liu Wei's capture.
