Ik it's just fiction but I wanted to make it clear that this is not realistic since basic algebra and geometry is useful in most walks of life, especially for a farmer, just think for a second about how you would decide how many trees to plant in a specific area or how many apples to send to be sold in the market and stuff, ofc you could just do it trough intuition but its made more efficient and effective through the use of basic and easy arithmetics

that's because you suck at math, or just have not been taught properly, if it's the latter then for multiplication it's highly suggested you write the biggest number down and then the smaller one under it, after which you draw a line and then you multiply each of the characters of the smaller numbers with the bigger number individually and then you add them, ofc there are other better ways but they all build upon this idea as this is the basic way to do simple additions ( in this case it would be 1 x 124 + 10 x 124= 124 +1240= 1364)
