Nero did not lose his memories, it is because there are things that haven't been told to him by Linda (or maybe Linda also doesn't know about this because there was no such thing in the book 👀). So yeah. Nero did not read the book, it was just a novel that his childhood friend (forcefully XD) narrated to him in a very detailed manner😂 so he is able to navigate his new life with relative ease.
