Correct me if I am wrong, but to my knowledge, unlike nobles, merchants did not own armies, and although economically influential, ordinary merchants were at best on par with nobles. As for selling blueprints to weapons, I am pretty sure it would take someone truly braided to bring the concept of such weapons into a world where countries are constantly at war. And may I remind you, carding machines and water frames were used to facilitate the production of textiles, not as weapons.

No, it's not. There's no specific reason; I just personally don't like the notion of harems and don't want them to become a prominent part of the story, nor believe they would help the story in any way.

The next level up will only be 1K, but that's because the only real reason as to why Arsenio's skill is working so well is because the people he is talking to are not trying to hide much from him, and if they did try to hide their intentions, the skill wouldn't be of much help, for now, that is.

Currently, he is slightly taller than the average for his time, being 109 cm tall, has brown curly hair, is caucasian, and is not particularly handsome or ugly. (Sorry if the description is not up to the standard, I am not good with character design and mostly relied on what I could find regarding Afonso of Portugal)

WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD Honestly, I just wanted a reason for the mc to go to the new world, but I didn't want to make them miss out on too many of the wars that happened around that time in Europe. Without being forced to contribute of course, so considering Spain's active war history, Cristopher Colombus going to Portugal first when asking for money, and Jhon the II's competence at ruling I felt that Portugal would be a good place where to have the beginning of the story to take place.

Assuming that this is not just a bot, sorry, but I do not want to monetize this novel in any way as it's just a passion project of mine, and the second I feel pressure to update constantly, I will probably end up dropping the book.
