It's now updated on Royal Road.
It was on hiatus as I went on holiday and got used to university life.
I completely forgot I also uploaded on royal road. Once this starts up again, I'll do a mass update.
If you go on MTL, and search 'The Alchemist of Harry Potter', you should be able to find it.
I remember watching an interview with J.K. Rowling where she said she initially made Hermione an older sister. I thought it would be a cool little Easter egg to make that somewhat of a reality.
Also, could I ask you to read to the latest chapter before giving your next review? I believe some of my better work comes after 'Chapter 0017 - Giant Lady and a Pirate'. Thank you!
Thanks for your review. I'm glad you found some of the things I wrote interesting. I do admit to creating this AU, and expecting the readers to get it; however, I believe the majority of the readers are intelligent enough to piece together bits of relevant information. The said information is usually mentioned a few chapters before, or even the chapter before it. I also believe that the people who read this novel are quite well versed in Harry Potter lore and invested in the Wizarding World to some degree; otherwise, why are you here? Things do not get explained, because they are revealed to you as and when you need them. I will admit that I did write some things, then delete them and continue writing as if they were still in it. However, the bits that I did miss that the readers did pick up on, they usually comment on it, and I answer their questions in 'Auxiliary Chapter: Question'. The MC is not some kind of Chinese novel protagonist. They may have appeared one dimensional at some point, but I try to make an effort to make them seem a little real. The MC may have some characteristics resembling Chinese novel protagonists, but don't all protagonists have them to varying degrees? The MC is not involved in everything. I made sure he was not involved with everything. It won't be mentioned until around chapter 50 that he just lets the goblins do their thing with his accounts. He has little to no political power outside of Hogwarts and the academic circle. He's not involved in any revolutions, or anything like that. I do admit he is involved with a lot of things: the orchestra, the Triwizard Cup, and the running of the Ravenclaw House. But I can tell you, some people, especially my age, are involved with a lot more extra circular activities. This leads to the next point. He's in charge of the Ravenclaws. That's because he's Head Boy and, by extension, a prefect for Ravenclaw. He has a leading role in the orchestra because he is one of the most experienced and one of the oldest. He's in charge of his research project, but nothing more than that. The MC had definitely not achieved 'EVERYTHING'. He has achieved a lot, but not to the extent of completing life. From reading your review, we have different views of what it means to have a complete and fulfilling life. The MC does not know everyone. He just knows the right people. He met most of these people at events, both social and academic, which I believe most people have done. We don't see him going out of his way to greet every person he meets during a walk around the Hogwarts grounds. As stated before, this is not a harem novel. Sure, he's had a few flings before; who hasn't, but not catching potential love interests like Pokémon? He may have a lot of female friends, but given the fact that Ravenclaw is female dominant, and only a small number of students carry on education after fifth year, it makes sense why most of his friends are female. I'm sure if he were real, he would associate with more males. The other characters aren't insane. They're just driven. Take my friends, for example. We're all eighteen. From my friends group, one of them was almost successful in joining the national Math Olympiad team, and one of my friends got an apprenticeship with MOD (I believe, or some government thing. I didn't pay attention when he told us), one got into Oxford. We have some absolute nutters in our friend group as well. It's not impossible for his friends to do what they have done. I may not have gotten into detail about this day-to-day life that much, but who would genuinely enjoy it? I know there are people out there who do enjoy it, but I'm not an educator. I can't think of a realistic lesson plan for Transfiguration. I try my best; I even ask ChatGPT to create one, but they're not helpful. I will try to add some in the future. It is quite hard to read. I've gotten tired of the content available on the platform. I hope this novel is a good change of pace.
It is stated in 'Auxiliary Chapter - Questions' that Fleur Delacour would be the short term love interest. Whether this Carrie's on into the later parts of the novel depends on the sentiments of the readers.
Some people are just like that. I'm glad she made a terrible first impression on you.
Thank you for the review. Now, onto answering your points. 1. I think the Triwizard Tournament is the best place to start. I only have one year of Hogwarts to write, then I can expand however I like. I have an section coming up where the MC will be interviewed by Rita Skeeter, and in that I will be going through major changes that has happened in this universe, and what the MC has gone through. Those reading this, feel free to drop question, and I'll try to include them in it. 2. I have a picture of my whiteboard with all the key dates during this volume. I will upload with this so you guys can get an idea of how this year is going to turn out. 3. I'm quite lucky as this fanfic hasn't received as much had as I expected. I have seen so fanfic with a horrendous amount of abuse, and this fanfic comes nowhere near them. There is some hate, but it is drowned out by the overall positive sentiment, so thank you all. 4. I'm currently going through a horrible phase of writers block. Every time I come to write, nothing wants to come out. I had written the next to chapters before this, and they are available on my 'Buy me a coffee' webpage. Every time I finish writing a chapter, it goes on the webpage until I'm ready to mass release.
