No, I imagine it wouldn’t feel good. BUT I also wouldn’t act like a child and refuse to listen to reason either. The earlier chapters said that she quit mentioning it. In a time of cell phones and cameras and all this technology she could’ve easily gathered evidence of it. But she didn’t. So yes, it is very easy to see how it could’ve been assumed untrue.
