See this is why I don't like mind control in fiction. Even though her father said such a terrible thing to her, it's not his fault so I can't hate him. It takes away his actions weight and justifies him doing anything out of character because he's under 'mind control'. It's just very frustrating to read.

This was very good. The dynamic between Austin and the FL felt very smooth. Most importantly no character felt it was too dumb or two-dimensional. Though I do wish the author would leave his other works and just focus on this one.

This and mind control are the abilities I hate to see most in fiction. I don’t know how to describe it exactly, but it feels like it takes away “responsibility?” “Repercussions?” “Consequences?”. Something like that.
