Gambesons and silk cloth were used in medieval and ancient times to protect from arrows and cuts. arrows are not as deadly usually as portrayed in media. Unless its some kind of magic uber arrow.

that is because you think of modern women. The ones in the cultivation novel are more "docile" and easier to get along normally and dont forget that they are in the weaker position and will do anything to please their core formation husband to get his protecrion/resources and prestige.

hmm not really, the wood elves in medieval2 mod divide and conquer use axes for some of their units and it looks good. It all depends on the way you use it.
