It is stated that Yuta decided to not go all-out on the exam as it will rise many questions of how he managed to grow so much stronger 'overnight'. He decide to not use his strongest cards - fuinjutsu and genjutsu, and only use weakened version of elemental ninjutsu, as that will be enough to get the promotion. He already grown his chakra level to the level of an average Jonin, considering the time he spend for it, it can be said that it's a great achievement and most shinobi don't even get to that level in their entire life.
