you mean numerous battles that barely had anything do damage to him? In fact I'm pretty sure that this last battle was the only real fight he even took damage, while all the rest has him killing everything before they could even touch his clothes So please tell me how he develops pain tolerance through battle?

For most people (myself included) it kind of is, however there are alot more kinks that are even worse. So this is actually pretty mild in comparison. Just keep in mind the saying it could be worse applies to everything.
