They did, its why he didn't narrate it. Jester's character is someone who distracts himself in face of personal troubles. Things that actually affect him. he ignores and doesn't speak about. But although his mother is included in this, meena is not. To him, all those emotions were fake, so he doesn't treat her dearly as he does his parents.
