I go by what's written down. Just because she survived, doesn't mean she wasn't almost killed by him multiple times (then possibly saved by the hero etc). I really don't like when people speculate or try to justify Authors plot holes/inconsistencies by saying "well maybe that happened because of maybe this" etc. While you could be right, you could also be wrong, which is pointless talk IMO.

Thats exactly what I do. I honestly don't care about authors struggles. How much effort they put in or anything else. I only care about the final result. If it's good I will praise it, if it's bad I will boo it. From the second I start reading something, i have already invested my time in it, if you make me waste my time by writing dumb stuff I will respond in kind. Just because it's free, doesn't mean you can't get criticism over it. Celebs donate money and they still get criticism, don't hide behind "it's free, no1 is forcing you to read". Either learn from the feedback "Yes, that was a mistake and should be fixed" and fix it. Ignore the feedback. Or get hurt over the feedback. Those are your 3 options, you choose the one you want to pick.
