Thanks for the chapter.
Could he use his Projection Magecraft to understand the innate abilities of various supernatural species to recreate them with the Essence of the Archmage? For example, he could use it to scan a vampire to get an understanding of how their Telepathy and Mind Compulsion work, then recreate it. Then should he meet an Original Vampire, a Siren, a Psychic, and an Immortal, he can observe them using more Projection Magecraft to see the slight differences in how their abilities work and improve his own by taking the best aspects and discarding the worse.
Why didn't he do what he did for Vicky? Creating a body from a few of her hairs would have allowed him to leave an intact corpse should someone investigate. I doubt anyone would, but there is no reason to take chances. The only potential problem I could see was whether she would still be a witch, but considering the new body would be made from her old body and contained her soul, it should have been fine. Plus, if it wasn't, he could always teach her magic again using the Essence of the Archmage.
Thanks for the chapter.
Yeah, but the simple answer to his lack of motivation is... he is a teenager. Most people don't have their lives planned out as teenagers or even in their twenties. Having nigh-infinite power doesn't suddenly change that. His messing with the plot is him creating ties to the world. Maybe he decides to fully devote himself to magic, becoming an archmage in knowledge rather than just power. Maybe he decides to create a company that makes him the richest on the planet. Maybe he decided to take over the supernatural side of the world, becoming akin to the emperor of the supernatural world. Maybe he decides to world travel after he experiences enough of what this world has to offer. We don't know the author's plan for the MC, but it is a bit unrealistic to expect an adult, let alone a teenager, given nigh unlimited power to instantly know what to do with it unless they were constantly thinking of this scenario or they are crazy. As for using magic for all that extra stuff, that is fast track to boredom and warped morals. Sure, he can summon anything he wants, but then he is stealing just because he wants something, showing no respect for other living beings. He could conjure stuff with magic, but unless it is an emergency that leads to no sense of appreciation for the things he has. Sure, he can summon souls to teach him whatever he wants, but since many won't just help him for free, he might have to subjugate them to get desired results, lessening his appreciation for the concept of free will and other's autonomy. Using magic for everything makes it no longer special and would warp how one views everything.
Yeah, but you could technically do that in any world. The author chose this world likely because they liked the universe and wanted a character that could interact with it. This world has an interesting plot and a decent magic system for Nathan to explore. Nathan should take part in it, rather than be a hermit only considering furthering his wealth and power. Should that ever get boring, nothing is stopping him from doing your plan, or creating a spell and going to another universe.
I know. Plus, she made some BS statements about how black women will save us or something like that. It was ridiculous.
But he isn't spending that much time on it. It hasn't even been a week (from my understanding) since he talked to Stefan. As of right now, he has Logomancy and a few sporadic abilities. Focusing on one or two power systems at a time isn't that bad. He isn't in a rush, so spending a few days to learn the local power system isn't a waste. As for a more in-depth study, he could just use telepathic magics like legilimens to copy it from the minds of other witches he comes across. Or create and use the spell Scholar's Touch on other grimoires to instantly absorb their knowledge.
And? The greatest perk of the ability to learn and use any magic or power system. You have to admit that the TVD magic system has great potential and awesome feats. Creating Immortal beings that can't be killed in any way (Immortals, not Originals). Creating a parallel dimension to act as an afterlife for all supernatural beings. A dying witch's curse put on her killers that turned them into werewolves and affected their descendants millennia later. Lets not forget Expression, a magic that is purely based on the will of the user, not need spells. He should obviously learn other magics, but there is no need to ignore the TVD magic system.
Does this mean that Harry is getting closer to properly replicating the magics of other races? I mean he can now take on the forms of other magical creatures, and he could use arithmancy to create virtually any spell, but could he fully replicate their unique racial abilities like a Phoenix's Rebirth or a Basilisk's Gaze?
