Ayenne thrashed as several bodyguards entered the room to drag her out. Nathaniel recognized the bodyguards as those he had sent for added protection of Maya.
He gave Carlton a nod, symbolizing that he indeed acknowledged that they were being used to protect the family from Ayenne.
"I guess I'm not needed here," Nathaniel said as Ayenne was finally escorted out of the door and it was closed shut behind them.
"I'd like a word with you, Nathaniel," Carlton said, making Maya hold his hand tightly.
Nathaniel sensed her discomfort despite him having saved her grandfather that faithful day.
"I'll be fine," Nathaniel said as he leaned closer to her and kissed the side of her head, much to everyone's surprise.
It seemed that they hadn't realized how far the relationship had truly developed.
"I'll see you later," Maya said as she finally let go of his hand and walked away.
