Waking
"So she didn't stir the whole night? Not even a little?" Nathaniel asked his younger sister as he gently caressed Maya's hand.
"No, nothing," Emilia said as she fidgeted awkwardly next to Max.
He was out for most of the night, most probably speaking to nurses and other members of the staff.
Max was like that, he spoke to everyone regardless of their stature in life.
Emilia recalled him once telling her how he found value in everything everyone had to say.
"Did you watch over her?" Nathaniel asked as he glared at his friend as if suspecting Max of doing something more than her brother would permit.
"Of course," Max said with a grin.
"Did you behave?" he asked his friend, glaring at him.
"I always am," Max winked to which Emilia simply rolled her eyes.
Nathaniel remained silent and turned his attention back to Maya.
Emilia envied the way he looked at the sleeping woman, his gaze was all for Maya.
