The Legend of Sunset Bridge

"Are you okay?" Maya asked as she lifted her head and looked Nate in the eyes.

After she had mentioned why she was doing everything to meet with Mr. De La Rue, Nate seemed to be lost in his own thoughts.

He simply stood there, holding her, like a statue frozen by Medusa, making Maya wonder if she said anything wrong.

"Yeah," Nate said clearing his throat and finally letting her go.

They stood in silence as Maya looked at her feet, not knowing where to take the conversation or even the date from there.

"May I?" Nate asked as he offered her his hand.

She looked at him and hesitated for a moment.

'Should I?' she asked herself. 'Wasn't I mad at him just a few seconds ago? Why should I forgive him so quickly?'

"Maya?" Nate asked making her look at his eyes.

His face painted the obvious worry he had for her. He didn't need to say anything, but she knew that he had a genuine concern for her.
