The news that she would have full control of the De La Rue family fortune came as a shock to Maya.
She didn't expect that being the Madam of the De La Rue family would have so much responsibility with it. She had expected a lot of social engagements, but nothing like this.
"Shouldn't that kind of responsibility be with a member of the De La Rue family?" she asked.
It only made sense that they gave that job to someone from within the family. Giving that much power to an outsider was dangerous.

Maya was about to argue with him and explain that she meant someone like Emilia or Ezra should be given that kind of responsibility, but she was cut off when Nathaniel shifted in his seat and grinned at something or someone behind her.
