"It's not possible for you to kill a human. You know it, I know it, and everyone else does. What did you do to be able to kill one? Did you order this man to kill them and lie?" Wendy knew Alexander had one of the fallen artifacts on his hand. The one which allowed a person to be controlled by someone.
Artemis scoffed, tired of Wendy already. "Don't pride yourself on being so important. Weren't you listening when I said I killed them? I don't have to lie to someone like you."
"You can't kill humans!" Wendy exclaimed in frustration because she couldn't figure out how Artemis was able to kill humans. "That law was made a long time ago and when you reincarnated to start a new life, it would have affected you. All the Gods it wouldn't have affected have either died or returned home. What tricks are you pulling here?"
"This should be around my fifth, sixth reincarnation? Honestly, I lost track trying to keep up with it. Tell me, what makes you so special Wendy? How can a human know so much about me when you shouldn't?" Artemis was going to ignore the woman but now she was interested in her. She wanted to know how this woman came to know about her reincarnations.
"There are many humans who still respect the Gods and in return, we have been blessed with knowledge. Some of us are given tasks to carry out by the elders which is why I came here today. It wasn't mentioned what exactly I had to do and in the end, I met you. It must have something to do with you killing humans. How are you able to do it?"
"Alexander, let's go back. This is your fault by the way. Why did you have to tell her that I killed someone?" She scolded the tall man. Had he listened to her and left this woman alone, they would've been halfway back to her home.
"I'm sorry," Alexander apologized for his mistake.
"That bracelet you placed on him was meant for Gods only. Disobeying you can get him killed quite easily. You are playing fire Artemis," Wendy warned the Goddess. It was great that she had been sent here to see what the Goddess was up to. First, killing humans and now placing a powerful tool on one of their hands. "Thankfully, it's around that time for you to disappear again."
"What are you talking about?" Alexander asked since he never heard Artemis saying she had to go anywhere. Furthermore, where could she go when she stated she couldn't leave the forest for too long?
Wendy looked at Alexander to explain the fate of Artemis. "She has to die soon to keep the evil in her suppressed. She'll die and be reincarnated. There will be a new Artemis soon. This reincarnation must be a defect. She's not supposed to be able to kill humans. They made sure of it because of how many she killed a long time ago."
"That law was made around it was my fourth time to reincarnate right? Other Gods had started to punish humans. What a long time ago," Artemis reminisced on the past. "Such a long time for me to be all alone in the forests. When you spend that amount of time alone you repent for the things you've done or build up hatred."
"What are you talking about? Your reincarnations don't last so long because you have to kill yourselves. It's only been a couple of decades for you."
"No, it hasn't," Artemis looked off in the distance in the direction of the forest. "I've been here for a long time all alone. I stopped reincarnating after the third time. Take that information and tell it to those elders. I want them to show up before me so that I can pay them back for having me here all alone. For the last time Alexander, we're leaving."
Artemis started to leave, done with explaining things to Wendy. She would like for the woman to relay the message to the elders so that they could come down to inspect the truth. With Alexander trailing behind her, Artemis didn't care to look back at Wendy. She rolled her eyes when she heard the woman's footsteps following behind them once again.
"How were you able to stop reincarnating? Don't you know how dangerous that is? The purpose of you having to die and be born again is to reset the evil spirit inside of you from waking up. At any moment it could take control of you and start killing everyone in sight. You have to kill yourself right away and be born again," Wendy took a step forward to grab Artemis but she was blocked by Alexander.
"Please refrain from touching her. She has told you more than enough of what you needed to know. Please go away now," Alexander didn't like when people kept pushing when someone didn't want to be bothered. This woman was taking it too far when she tried to grab Artemis.
"Are you crazy? She has that thing on you and it can kill you at any second. Step aside and I will find a way for you to be released from it. I don't agree with the Gods being killed but she is evil. I don't know why they didn't kill her along with the others. I'm sorry to say that I am realizing why they turned their backs on their own kind. All of you are too dangerous and it has always been the elders who looked out for humans."
"That's why they created those things for humans to kill us so easily? They want to be the only Gods left when the humans kill everyone else," Artemis scoffed, not putting it past them.
