64. Backwarder

Scene: Flashback near the Eiffel Tower in black-and-white except for red searchlights: comparatively young Wang Fu and young Marianne Lenoir are running away from the Nazis

Marianne: (stops near the Seine and Fu turns around) Wait! We have to fight, Fu! Let's use the Miraculous: I'll take the Ladybug and you take the Black Cat!

"Master Fu, is that you?!" Adrien asked, pointing to the man in the flashback and the old man nodded in confirmation.

"And I'm guessing that pretty lady over there is Marianne," Alya said to the old man with a teasing smirk and the old man once again nodded in confirmation. Master Fu then sported a blush as soon as everyone else started gushing.

Master Fu: But what if we fail? They'll get hold of this box and it will mean the end of the world! Come with me; we'll be safe in England. (Fu grasps Marianne's hand as he runs forward, but she frees it from his grasp; he turns around in surprise.)

"What the heck was going on over there?" Kim asked, interested to see what the two lovers were running away from as well as everyone else.

"That was World War II when the German Nazis invaded France. Somehow, they heard about the Miracle Box and tried to take the Miraculouses to use them for world domination," Master Fu explained the context of the flashback on-screen much to everyone's surprise.

"That was World War II? I've been studying and teaching history for years. I've never heard of the Nazis searching for any magical jewelry," Miss Bustier pointed out with a bit of skepticism.

"That's because the Nazis have never mentioned them. They were probably afraid that their enemies would find and use them first," Master Fu stated his honest opinion on why that is and everyone nodded as they all thought that made sense.

Master Fu: Marianne?

Marianne: Leave without me — I'd rather stay and resist, even without the Miraculous! (Fu takes a button with the Chinese ideogram 爱, meaning love, from his tie and fastens it to Marianne's blouse; he then places his hands on her upper arms.)

Master Fu: (as sad background music commences) I'll come back for this...and you!

Marianne: (holding Fu's clenched fists) I'll be waiting for you, right here, every day!

Master Fu: Marianne, I've never told you this, but I—

Marianne: (placing her finger on his lips.) Shh... Tell me when you come back! (A red light falls on Marianne's face and a voice of a man is heard from afar as she turns to the source.)

Nazi: Over there! Catch them!

Marianne: (turns to Fu) Now, go! (Fu and Marianne let go of each other's hands and run in opposite directions and the man's voice is heard once again.)

Nazi: Come on! Faster! The box! We must get the box!

"Oh! How romantic and sad!" Rose said as she was about to be on the verge of tears at seeing two lovers forced to separate from each other.

Scene: Marinette's room.

Marinette: Girls! We have a very serious situation! (The girls are cuddled up on the couch, all of them except Rose looking extremely tired) Adrien and his father have been invited to the Royal Wedding in England this weekend.

"Uh oh!" Marinette groaned in embarrassment, remembering what she and the girls were trying to plan that day.

"What's wrong with me being at the Royal Wedding in England, m'lady?" Adrien asked, genuinely confused as well most of the audience.

"You'll see. I hope you and Kagami don't hate me for this!" Marinette answered as she buried her face with her hands, still embarrassed while Adrien and Kagami looked at each other and shrugged.

Alya: (annoyed and exhausted) That's the "emergency'' you called us over here for on a Saturday morning? (frowns)

Marinette: You don't get it! Kagami and her mother are going too! (paces around the room doing dramatic hand gestures) Which means that Adrien and Kagami will be spending an entire weekend together!

"Ohhh," Everyone began to catch the drift of why Marinette would be worried about Adrien at the British Royal Wedding.

Alix: (tired and frustrated) And...?

Marinette: (A visual starts playing in the background as Marinette rambles) What if Adrien is blown away by her awesome dress and hairstyle? And if they dance together at the reception? And what if they tour the city on a romantic horse and buggy ride? It would be the end of the world! (visual ends) They're taking the Startrain to London at 11 AM; that's in less than two hours! We've gotta do something, fast! (Girls seem to be dozing off; only Rose seems enthusiastic and wide awake.)

Mylène: We could... organize a demonstration and make the trains go on strike.

Alya: Nah, they'd just take a helicopter or private jet.

Rose: (enthusiastically raises her hand) I know! We'll dress you up (visual starts playing) as British megastar Adeline so you can slip into Buckingham Palace. You'll lure Adrien away from Kagami at the reception and waltz with him in the grand ballroom and— (visual ends)

Alix: (interrupting) Then when Adrien finds out you're not who he (visual commences) thought you were, he'll be totally disappointed because he hates lying; he'll fall head-over-heels in love with Kagami, given that she never lies, and you'll get locked away in the Tower of London. (Marinette squeals in terror.)

Juleka: (mumbles) Why don't you just kidnap Kagami? That's cool. (The other girls look at Juleka in terror and gasp as they sit up straight.)

"Kidnap Kagami?! OK, where are you girls getting these whacked-out ideas?!" Luka asked in shock as well as everybody else and the girls just shrugged with sheepish nervous smiles. Meanwhile, Kagami smiled at the blue-haired boy for defending her.

Alix: That would be bad!

Alya: No way we could do that, Juleka!

Mylène: (shakes her head in disapproval) Mm-mm!

Rose: We couldn't!

Alya: (frustrated) Listen, Marinette, the best thing to do is just spill your guts to Adrien once and for all before he takes off for London!

"Even I say that's a more reasonable plan than kidnapping me. Not that you girls would actually succeed!" Kagami said while giggling and everybody else laughed along with her in agreement.

"Yeah, really sorry about those ideas, Kagami," Marinette profusely apologized to the Japanese girl who bowed to her in forgiveness.

Marinette: Couldn't we try Juleka's idea instead? (Girls shake their heads and make a disapproving noise.) But I just can't do that! (dramatically flops her head down) I can't talk to him without (raises her head making melodramatic hand gestures) stumbling all over my words. I've been trying for months and— (gasps as she sees Wayzz peeking through her bedroom window) ...and you're right! (nervously giggles and starts dragging the girls out of her room as they gasp in surprise) It's about time things change. I'll find the courage somehow; thanks girls!

Alya: (turns to face Marinette in surprise) You sure you'll be okay?

"That's why you weirdly changed your mind about telling him!" Alya said in realization as well as the other girls.

"Sorry, girls. Couldn't risk you all seeing Wayzz there," Marinette said as she giggled and everyone else nodded in understanding.

Marinette: (nervously scratching the back of her head) Yeah, sure! I'll let you know what happens... (shuts the trapdoor, shooing Alya out) Bye girls! Wayzz! (Wayzz phases through the window and Tikki appears) What's going on?

Wayzz: Marinette! You must come with me; Master Fu needs you! (turns around and phases out of the window)

Marinette: (to Tikki) Do you think it's serious?

Tikki: Master Fu wouldn't send Wayzz if it wasn't!

Marinette: (sarcastically) You mean like the time when he lost his keys and locked himself out of the house?

"REALLY?!" Everybody asked the old man in amusement about using Marinette for favors like that.

"What?! I'm old, so sometimes I forget things!" Master Fu said in his own defense and everybody laughed at him in response.

Tikki: It's about time Fu learned how to write and send texts!

Marinette: Write! Thank you, Tikki! That's the answer!

Scene: The subway. Marinette rushes inside the train and takes a seat.

Marinette: (shuffles inside her purse to find a piece of paper and a pen) I'm gonna write Adrien a letter, and give it to him on the train platform just before he leaves. At least then I won't mess up anything when I open my mouth! (puts the tip of the pen atop the paper, takes a deep breath and commences writing) "Dearest you, when you love someone you must never hold back from telling them when you have the chance, (two boys hear Marinette and listen in) because one day you might realize that it's too late and that all your hopes and dreams are ruined, with no way to go back in time and do it over. (comic starts running in the background) I want to tell it to you today, before you leave, so you can take my words with you. I'm hoping they'll make their way to your heart, and that, when you come back, you'll give me a chance to prove how true these words really are. I... love you." (comic ends)

Boys: (mocking her) I looooveee you! (Marinette squeaks in embarrassment as they laugh shamelessly.)

Boy 1: (chants repeatedly) She's got a crush!

Boy 2: Look at her, she's got a crush! (cackles)

Passenger: Come on, kids! (Boys turn to face the passenger) It's not nice to make fun of poets.

Marinette: Uhh… (blushes) maybe this isn't such a good idea after all. (She puts the love letter back into her purse and exits the train mortified, the teens still laughing from inside.)

"Don't worry about it, girl! Those boys are so immature!" Alya said in disgust of the boys on the train making fun of her BFF on-screen.

"Yeah, m'lady. They're probably having girl problems of their own right now. Besides, I love what you wrote," Adrien said to make his girlfriend feel better and it did as she giggled and blushed in response.

Scene: Fu's massage shop; Marinette enters. Master Fu is lying down on his bed looking frail and weak, while a doctor stands beside him writing on her clipboard

Master Fu: Marineeeeettte!

Marinette: (hurries to stand beside the doctor) Doctor, is Master— (covers her mouth with her hand) I mean— Grandpa okay?

Doctor: (cheerfully) Of course he is. You know what men are like: one little hiccup and they think they're dying.

Master Fu: (dramatically) My time has come! (passes wind. Marinette sighs in sheer relief.)

"Um, was that what I think it was?" Kim asked as he giggled at the sound on-screen.

"Yeah, Master had a little...gastrointestinal problem," Marinette said as she nervously looked at Master Fu who sported a blush in embarrassment while the others lightly chuckled at him.

Doctor: (hands Marinette a prescription) Here you go; fetch this from the pharmacy and he'll be back on his feet in no time. (Marinette sticks the prescription in her purse. Just as she exits) And don't forget to eat more veggies, Mr. Chan. You need fiber, for guts' sake! (chuckles and leaves. Tikki pops out.)

"Did that doctor seriously just pun?" Chloe asked in disgust and everyone else nodded in confirmation as some laughed while the others groaned in disgust along with the blonde girl.

Marinette: (turns to face Master Fu) "Mr. Chan?"

Master Fu: You can never be too careful… (Marinette sits down beside Master Fu and is about to set Master Fu's blanket but he stops her.)

Master Fu: Marinette, if anything happens to me, I want you to take care of the Miracle box — you'll be the new guardian and—

"Hold it! You are going to be the new guardian?! As in of the Miraculouses?!" Alya asked her best friend in shock as well as everyone else except for Master Fu.

"Yeah. Um...Master Fu has been giving me lessons on guardianship the past few weeks in case that time comes sooner than we think," Marinette nervously confessed. While most others are impressed, some of them expressed concern, especially her parents.

"Are you sure about this, Master? Marinette's only 15 years old!" Sabine asked the old man, not rudely but with great concern for her daughter.

"There was no one else I could trust. And despite her very young age, Marinette has proven to me that she takes the protection of the Miraculouses very seriously and that she is strong and knowledgeable enough," Master Fu said nervously, especially towards the girl's parents. Even if they couldn't argue with that logic, most people were still gravely concerned with that decision.

Marinette: (interrupting) Oh! Come on, Master Fu, you're overreacting; it's just a little bellyache, that's all! (pats his hand)

Master Fu: I am 186 years old, remember? The doctor doesn't know that.

"Yeah, why didn't you tell the doctor your real age?" Kim asked the old man curiously.

"Are you kidding? She will probably think I have dementia and that I have gone mad. As far as most people think, no one could live up to the age I am," Master Fu answered to the simple teen athlete and everybody nodded in understanding as they can't argue with that.

Marinette: You're going to be fine! I'll go and fetch your medication then... (almost stands up)

Master Fu: Wait! That's not why I called you here. (reaches to hand Marinette a letter) Go to the address written here down on the river banks at 11am. You'll see a woman there wearing a pretty brooch shaped like a Chinese ideogram. Give her this letter.

Marinette: Who is she, Master?

Master Fu: Someone I've always loved, but have never seized the moment to tell... (looks away)

Marinette: Master, you've got a sweetheart! But... why today?

Master Fu: Because I'm just realizing that I've waited way too long. I don't know how much time I have left, but I don't want to waste another moment.

Marinette: (stands up) You're so right! If you don't do it now, you'll probably never do it; I'm gonna do what I need to do today, too! (clenches her fist with determination, then puts Master Fu's letter in her purse.)

Master Fu: (in a frail voice) Thank you.

Wayzz: Bring the medication back fast! I don't care what the doctor said, I don't have a good feeling about this.

Marinette: You can count on me, Wayzz! (She exits. Master Fu passes wind.)

Most of the teens once again giggled at the sound while Master Fu blushed in embarrassment.

Scene: Right outside Fu's massage shop, Marinette is climbing down the staircase, when she comes to an abrupt halt.

Marinette: Hey, wait! Adrien's train is leaving at— (takes her phone out) Oh no! That's in 20 minutes!

Tikki: The meds, Master Fu's letter, Adrien's letter— you won't have enough time to do everything, Marinette!

"And because of those things, I ended up messing up big time!" Marinette groaned in embarrassment, confusing everyone else except for Tikki and Master Fu. "You'll see."

Marinette: I won't have time, but we might...

[Transformation sequence.]

Marinette: Tikki, spots on! Yeah! (transforms into Ladybug)

Scene: At the Gare du Nord train station. Ladybug comes swinging on her yo-yo.

Ladybug: (hides behind the building) Spots off! (transforms back into Marinette)

Announcer: (chimes ring) Trains number 8625 and 8025 in the direction of Paris, Montparnasse are arriving on platform 12. (Gabriel escorts Kagami's mother into the train while Adrien escorts Kagami; he is about to enter when he hears someone calling his name.)

Marinette: (shouts) Adrien! (runs towards him desperately while panting)

Adrien: Marinette?

Marinette: Er... (takes letter out of her purse) Here! Read this in the drain—er—on the train! I've never told you kiss—this, but what I want more than anything else in the world is written on this piece of paper and... (blushes looking straight at Adrien) only you can give it to me. (Adrien gasps.)

"That explains it!" Adrien said in realization, suddenly remembering what he brought for Marinette back from his trip in England, before he started giggling. "I was wondering why you wanted it!" While Adrien still giggled and Marinette buried her face in embarrassment, everyone else stayed confused but said nothing and kept watching.

Marinette: (rushes away) Sorry— (bumps into someone) ugh! Medical emergency! (Adrien looks down at the note, while Kagami stares sternly after her. Marinette hides behind the building once again) I did it! I gave him the letter; I actually did it, after all this time! Why did I wait so long? It was so easy!

Tikki: I'm so proud of you, Marinette! You were right to take the plunge.

Marinette: All right! Time for the next one... Tikki, spots on! (transforms into Ladybug and swings away on her yo-yo)

Scene: In the Startrain. Gabriel shifts uncomfortably as he adjusts his tie and moves away from someone walking down the aisle

Mrs. Tsurugi: I'm feeling a sense of uneasiness in you, Gabriel-san!

Gabriel: I think I just don't like being away from home, that's all.

Mrs. Tsurugi: He who hopes, gives himself the opportunity to obtain what he desires. But he who fears, always ends up with the very thing he dreads.

Gabriel: (offscreen) I shall remember that, Tsurugi-san! (Adrien is reading Marinette's letter in surprise.)

Scene: Xavier Ramier is sitting on a bench feeding his pigeons on the banks of the Seine. An old woman approaches him

Ms. Lenoir: Hello again, Mr. Ramier!

Mr. Ramier: How are you today, Ms. Lenoir?

"Is that Marianne?" Rose asked excitedly and Marinette nodded in confirmation making the former gush. "Awww! She looks so sweet! She totally reminds me of my grandma!"

Ms. Lenoir: (sits down on the bench) Today's the day! I know he's coming... I can feel it!

Mr. Ramier: He really is a very lucky man; he doesn't deserve you. (Ladybug appears; she recognizes Ms. Lenoir's brooch, takes the letter from her yo-yo and approaches her.)

Ladybug: Hello, ma'am!

Mr. Ramier: (gasps) Look, Ladybug?!

Ladybug: Uh... yeah—I have a letter for you; the mailman asked me to give it to you because there was something wrong with hi—

Ms. Lenoir: (interrupting) I know perfectly well who sent you, young lady!

Ladybug: Oh!

Ms. Lenoir: Go now... the less we talk, the safer your secret will be... but thank you, Ladybug. I've been waiting for this moment for a very long time!

Ladybug: You're welcome, ma'am! It was very nice meeting you. (She sets off on her yo-yo. Ms. Lenoir holds the letter to her chest and sighs)

Scene: Ladybug swings to the pharmacy, lands and enters it

Ladybug: Morning, ma'am! (takes the letter from her yo-yo and hands it to the pharmacist) Here, it's very urgent!

Pharmacist: (reads the letter with her mouth agape) Uh... look... thank you for this very moving heartfelt declaration, but I'm already taken, and my name's not Marianne.

Ladybug: Ahh... (skims the letter in horror) So if you have Master Fu's letter, who's got the prescription?

"UH OH!" Everyone said as they laughed in amusement while Marinette still had her face buried in embarrassment of that stupid mix-up.

Scene: Ms. Lenoir is sitting on the bench beside Mr. Ramier; she commences to read the letter

Ms. Lenoir: When you love someone, you must never hold back from telling them when you have the chance, because one day you might realize that it's too late (her voice saddens) and that all your hopes and dreams are ruined, with no way to go back in time and do it over... Too late...? Hopes and dreams ruined...? This means he doesn't love me anymore. That it's too late for the two of us...?

"Wait! If the pharmacist had Master Fu's letter to Marianne and Marianne had your letter to Adrien, does that mean…?!" Max asked Marinette, finally putting the pieces together as well as everyone else until they get a confirmed answer from the girl in question.

"Yes. I accidentally gave Master Fu's prescription to Adrien on the train," Marinette nervously whimpered and once she had answered, everyone burst into raucous laughter at that unfortunate mix-up.

"That explains why Adrien gave you constipation capsules at school when he got back!" Alya said in realization while laughing hard with everyone else.

"Yeah, yeah, I goofed! Can we please move on? My screw-up was what got Marianne akumatized in the first place!" Marinette pointed out and after realizing that, everyone stopped laughing and paid their attention back to the screen.

Mr. Ramier: Oh, Miss Lenoir...

Ms. Lenoir: We promised each other... All this pain, all these years of waiting... for nothing. (leaves)

"Awww! Poor Marianne!" The most sensitive people in the audience said, feeling sorry for the poor old woman.

Scene: In the train, Gabriel's Miraculous shines

Gabriel: Ah! (stands up)

Adrien: Father?

Train conductor: We are about to depart; stand clear— (Gabriel walks up to the conductor.)

Gabriel: You! (presses Mute Speaker) This train will not depart until I say it can!

Train conductor: (revolted) Who do you think you are?!

Gabriel: I am Gabriel Agreste! And I'm not feeling well, and until I'm feeling better nobody goes anywhere; is that clear?

Train conductor: (nods) Mm-hm… Yes, I'm sorry Mr. Agreste.

"SERIOUSLY?!" Everyone in the audience asked in exasperation at the sight of Adrien's father transforming into Hawk Moth in a public place.

Gabriel: (locks door to the washroom) We've got work to do! (Nooroo comes out of his blazer pocket)

Train conductor: Ladies and gentlemen, (Gabriel transforms into Hawk Moth) we have a sick passenger on board; our departure will therefore be slightly delayed until further notice.

Hawk Moth: (releases a butterfly from his cane) I can feel... a whole lifetime of hope... (evillizes the butterfly) The hope of being reunited with one's true love, only to find out that the waiting has been in vain! Fly away, my little akuma, and evilize her! (The akuma flies out of the train.)

Scene: Back at the banks of the Seine, Ms. Lenoir looks upset as she climbs the stairs

Mr. Ramier: (picks up Marinette's poem and gasps) Ms. Lenoir, wait! (The akuma goes inside Ms. Lenoir's brooch.)

Hawk Moth: (from the train bathroom) Backwarder, I am Hawk Moth. I'm granting you the power to make up for lost time by stealing it from others! All I ask for in return is Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous!

Ms. Lenoir: Thank you for giving me a second chance, Hawk Moth! (gets akumatized into Backwarder)

"Marianne," Master Fu said on the verge of tears at the sight of Marianne being akumatized with Tom putting his hand on his shoulder for comfort.

Mr. Ramier: Ms. Lenoir? (Backwarder uses an hour-hand sword to backward Mr. Ramier) ?rioneL .srM !tiaw, rioneL .sM (gasps and puts down Marinette's letter. Backwarder jumps on a ship in the Seine, and backwards it. She jumps on the highway, and uses backward on a car)

"What's happening?" Ivan asked curiously as he was not aware of this particular supervillain.

"She can make everything and everyone move backwards. Even the talking is backwards," Marinette explained and everyone giggled at the thought after seeing it happen to Mr. Ramier, but then stopped after seeing it happen with the car on the highway.

Backwarder: (laughs evilly) No more time to waste!

Scene: Back on the train, Adrien is listening to music on his earphones

Adrien: (his phone beeps) Huh? (presses alert button)

Nadja Chamack: (on TVi News) This just in! There's a new supervillain at large!

Adrien: (gasps, then turns to Kagami) I—I better go check on my father. (Adrien walks up to the washrooms and presses on the locked door.)

Hawk Moth: Occupied!

Adrien: Oh oops, sorry! (goes to the other washroom and locks the door)

Plagg: (appearing) Gotta go, huh?

[Transformation sequence.]

Adrien: Plagg, claws out! (transforms into Cat Noir)

"Well, that was just weird, dude! You and your old man go to the bathrooms to transform for different reasons!" Nino pointed out to Adrien and everyone is shocked at that twist of fate.

"Not to mention Hawk Moth was a few feet away!" Alya pointed out to everyone who is still shocked at the irony.

Scene: Ladybug and Cat Noir rush to Place de la Concorde. Backwarder is atop a ferris wheel and backwards it as people start screaming.

Ladybug: (arriving) Oh no! I've seen that brooch before! If my love letter caused this kind of reaction it's probably a good thing Adrien didn't read it! (Backwarder jumps off the Ferris wheel, backwards two cars and a civilian; the civilian is about to get hit by a backwarded car.) Oh no! (saves the civilian) Here! You'll be safe here in the meantime. (The backwarded civilian almost bumps into Cat Noir)

"Well, to be fair, she didn't read the entire letter. Just the pessimistic beginning," Adrien pointed out as he still thought her letter to him was sweet and everyone else nodded in agreement.

Cat Noir: Whoops! (moonwalks backwards) M'Lady, okay you are? (Ladybug crosses her arms, annoyed) Are you okay, m'lady?

Ladybug: Cat Noir! They've been hit by a supervillain!

Cat Noir: Uh, yeah I saw that; looks like she's making them go back in time!

(Both start running towards Backwarder)

Ladybug: I won't bore you with the details, but I'm sure the akumatized object is the brooch with the Chinese ideogram she's wearing.

Cat Noir: I trust you. (Backwarder uses her sword on civilians until Ladybug stops her from using backward on yet another one.)

"OK, making people move backwards is just ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous!" Chloe once again said about the powers Hawk Moth gives to his supervillains and everyone else murmured in agreement, as some of them find the situation kind of funny.

Ladybug: Not so fast!

Backwarder: There you are again, you ghastly bug! Once I've touched you, all I have to do is wait for you to transform back!

Hawk Moth: (from the train) Then you can give me her Miraculous!

Backwarder: Not right now; first I'll follow her so that she can lead me back to the man who gave her those earrings.

Hawk Moth: What? You know the Guardian of the Miraculous? You must take me to him!

"UH-OH! This is bad!" Some people said simultaneously at the same time, as everyone is worried for the old guardian.

Backwarder: Fu? Of course! He's the one who broke my heart. He's been hiding under a false name for a long time, but now thanks to you, Hawk Moth, I'm going to find him again at last and make up for all that lost time.

Hawk Moth: (malefic laughter) What a delightful twist of fate!

"Great! Now Hawky knows his name!" Alix sarcastically groaned in frustration as well as everyone else.

Ladybug: Cat Noir! I was at Master Fu's earlier! We can't let her touch me otherwise she'll lead Hawk Moth straight to the Guardian! And the Miracle Box! (Backwarder attempts to attack Ladybug; Cat Noir blocks the hit)

Cat Noir: I'll gladly be your bodyguard, m'lady. (to Backwarder) In no time you'll be back the way you were before you got akumatized! (Ladybug launches Backwarder into a lamppost; Cat Noir attempts to attack Backwarder but she uses her power to put the lamppost back and it hits him; Cat Noir dodges Backwarder's attacks; Ladybug throws projectiles at her, then throws a car at her; Backwarder uses backward on the car)

"Ouch, dude!" Nino said to his best friend as he and the others laughed at the lamppost moving backwards and hitting Cat Noir.

Backwarder: Return to sender! (Ladybug dodges the car)

Cat Noir: Hey! Be nice to m'lady! (He launches her into the Obélisque de Louxor; Ladybug throws her yo-yo to cut the Obélisque in half and Backwarder backwards the Obélisque together again.)

Backwarder: You're wasting your time while I grow stronger.

Ladybug: We won't defeat her this way, Cat Noir! (dodges Backwarder's attack)

Backwarder: (strikes at Cat Noir) All I need is one hit! Haha! Time's up, Cat Noir! (Ladybug pushes Backwarder to the dumpster so she accidentally uses backward on it and the trash comes back out, while the trash distracts her, the heroes retreat. She growls) Wanna play hide n' seek, huh? I've got all the time in the world; I'll find you sooner or later and once I've defeated you, you'll lead me straight to my sweetheart!

Hawk Moth: Then I'll be able to get my hands on not only their Miraculous, but all the other magic jewels as well! (laughs evilly)

Scene: Jardin des Tuileries. Ladybug and Cat Noir hide behind a statue as Backwarder searches for them.

Cat Noir: It's time we made a plan!

Ladybug: A little helping hand from fate is in order! Lucky Charm! (a pipe appears) Uh... a pipe?

Cat Noir: That's incredible! I was just thinking to myself, why don't we redo the fountain's plumbing while we're here?

Ladybug: (looks around; her vision highlights Cat Noir, a kite on the ground and the pipe) Okay, I know what to do; follow me. She's gone away! Quick, let's make the most of it! (cuts the kite string) Take this! (She gives Cat Noir the string, then makes a cross in the sand with the pipe, then places the pipe on the center of the cross.)

Ladybug: There! Now tie the pipe around your ankle.

Cat Noir: Your Lucky Charm seems more convoluted than usual.

Ladybug: It's the most complicated ever; I have to stay focused.

"No kidding, girl! I can't figure out what you're doing!" Alya said in shock and confusion as well as everyone else except for the two heroes.

"Even I can't figure your plan out, Marinette!" Max said, frustrated that this is actually testing his high intelligence.

"I told you it was my most complicated plan ever. But, you'll see when we get there," Marinette said with a proud smirk while the intrigued audience gave the screen their full attention.

Cat Noir: (Finishes tying the kite string around his ankle) I'm with you m'lady!

Ladybug: Okay, now stretch your arm out like this and take a few steps back until the string is pulled tight. (Cat Noir does so) Perfect! Now raise your arm and say "cataclysm" backwards. (Cat Noir gets confused about how to say "cataclysm" backwards, so she tries figuring it out) Msylca... ms-msylca... Msylcatac!

Cat Noir: Msylcatac!

Ladybug: (starts a timer on her yo-yo) Excellent! Now pull the tube back to you. (Cat Noir pulls the tube back to him) Right, now follow me! (runs forward)

Cat Noir: I'll follow you to the ends of the Earth, m'lady. (follows Ladybug)

Backwarder: (uses backward on a leaf) Come on! You're merely delaying the inevitable. (Ladybug and Cat Noir appear)

Ladybug: Sorry, we got a little held back, but we're all yours now, no more timeouts!

Backwarder: My sweet darling Fu, soon we'll be back together again. (attacks)

Ladybug: (faces Cat Noir) I'm sorry.

Cat Noir: Sorry for what?

Ladybug: For this! (pushes Cat Noir into Backwarder so he gets backwarded, and starts the timer)

"Don't worry, everybody! It's all part of the plan!" Adrien quickly said in Marinette's defense for pushing him into Backwarder.

Cat Noir: ?tahw rof yrroS

Backwarder: One down! I can't believe Fu chose such a cowardly Ladybug, who would sacrifice her own Cat Noir! (attacks Ladybug, who dodges by back-flipping while Cat Noir runs back)

Hawk Moth: (from the train) What are you doing? Why don't you just take Cat Noir's Miraculous?

"I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with my father. Why do the supervillains always go after Ladybug when my Miraculous has become easier to take?" Adrien asked in exasperation and everyone shrugged in response, seeing his point and felt exasperated as well.

Backwarder: You'll understand soon enough. He's powerless now, but I want Ladybug! She's my only ticket back to Fu. (Ladybug checks her timer, leading Backwarder to Cat Noir)

Cat Noir: .ydal'm, htraE eht fo sdne eht ot uoy wollof ll'I (Cat Noir is back near the cross in the sand)

Ladybug: (stops in front of the cross and fakes a sprained ankle) Ow, my ankle! I think I've sprained it!

Backwarder: (running towards Ladybug) You're mine! (Ladybug jumps simultaneously as Cat Noir pushes the pipe to the cross; Backwarder trips over it, skidding to Cat Noir. The timer ends.)

Cat Noir: !Cataclysm (destroys the brooch)

Backwarder: NOOOOO!

Ladybug: No more evil-doing for you, little akuma. Time to de-evilize! (captures the akuma) Gotcha! Bye bye, little butterfly! (releases a purified butterfly) Miraculous Ladybug! (The Miraculous cure fixes all the damage done, and Ms. Lenoir turns back to normal.)

Ladybug & Cat Noir: Pound it!

"Pound it!" The two heroes once again fist-bumped and kissed in victory. Then, they turned their attention to the audience who were staring at Marinette with wide-eyed shocked looks on their faces.

"Marinette, that was...ingenious!" Max said in complete shock and everyone else gave loud impressed murmurs in agreement.

"Can m'lady get any more amazing or what?" Adrien rhetorically asked with a proud smirk before kissing Marinette on the cheek, making her give a blushing smile.

"You really lucked out on giving Marinette those earrings, Master," Wayzz quietly said to Master Fu who nodded in agreement, proud of his choice for Ladybug.

Cat Noir: Well at least I think so, 'cause to be honest, I still don't understand what all that was about.

Ladybug: (helping Ms. Lenoir get up) That's because we girls are mysterious that way. (looks at Ms. Lenoir)

Cat Noir: (his ring beeps) Oh, oops! Sorry, but I'd better scat! Superfast. (Cat Noir approaches Ladybug and kisses her hand courteously.)

Ladybug: Why the rush?

"Never mind. I know now," Marinette said with a giggle and Adrien giggled back.

Cat Noir: It's a secret; you see, we cats are mysterious too. (He runs away, and Ladybug gently seats Ms. Lenoir on a bench.)

Ms. Lenoir: What happened to me?

Ladybug: (opens her yo-yo and gets the right letter) I gave you the wrong letter earlier, I hope you'll forgive me. I can't do anything to change the past, but, I hope this letter will change your future. (She swings away on her yo-yo, and Ms. Lenoir smiles while looking at the letter.)

Scene: Back on the train

Hawk Moth: Don't believe for one second that you've won, Ladybug! I've acquired more information that will enable me to track the Guardian down. And even though no one in Paris goes by the name of Master Fu, I will find where he's hiding. Soon I'll be able to have him decipher the spellbook for me and maybe, who knows, even get my hands on every Miraculous known on Earth!

Train conductor: (to a passenger who needs to use the washroom) I know it's taking a long time— (Hawk Moth laughs maniacally, alarming the conductor and the passenger; Gabriel and Adrien detransform and exit the washrooms simultaneously, both gasping when they see each other.)

Adrien: You seem to be feeling a lot better, Father.

Gabriel: Oh yes, I am. (escorts Adrien to his seat)

Train conductor: (glances at Gabriel awkwardly as he passes while speaking to the passengers; the passenger goes to the washroom) Ladies and gentlemen, our incident has been resolved. This train for London is about to depart, stand clear of the doors, we apologize for any inconvenience.

"Well, this is even more awkward now," Adrien said about his encounter with his father just when he was detransforming from being Cat Noir and his father detransforming back from being Hawk Moth. Everyone else murmured in agreement as they found that weird and awkward as well.

Scene: Back at the banks of the Seine, Mr. Ramier is feeding the pigeons while Fu and Marianne are sitting on the bench

Master Fu: Marianne, I—

Ms. Lenoir: (at the same time as Master Fu) Fu, I— (Both chuckle gingerly; the atmosphere abruptly saddens.)

Master Fu: Marianne, I'm sorry I took so long to come here. I always felt as long as I was in charge of the Miracle Box, I'd be a danger to anyone I'm close to... but that's all in the past now.

Ms. Lenoir: (placing her hand on his) I know you always wanted to do what's best. I know what a responsibility it is being the Guardian of the Miraculous. Unfortunately, Hawk Moth now knows that I know you.

Master Fu: Yes, he could hurt you to get to me.

Ms. Lenoir: We can't be together again until he's been defeated.

"Oh no!" Rose said, sad for the old lovers since they have to separate again due to Hawk Moth.

Master Fu: I have full trust in the ones I have chosen. (Master Fu and Ms. Lenoir hold hands) They will succeed.

Ms. Lenoir: Now it's my turn to go and hide, my sweet darling Fu.

Master Fu: Marianne, I've never told you this but I... I...

Ms. Lenoir: (puts her finger on Fu's lips) Shh. Save it for when I get back. (Mr. Ramier lets out wistful tears looking at the couple; scene shifts to Marinette and Tikki gazing from above.)

"Awww!" The audience gushed at Marianne's sweet words towards Master Fu who once again sighed at the thought of her.

Tikki: (emotionally) Why doesn't he just tell her?

Marinette: Because it's probably not the right time yet.

Tikki: How about you? (Marinette opens her mouth in befuddlement) When will it be the right time for you?

Marinette: (disappointed) I'll tell you if I'm still alive after seeing Adrien again tomorrow morning.

"Oh, right!" Marinette groaned in embarrassment, not looking forward to seeing the next scene while the others giggled.

Scene: Outside Collège Françoise Dupont. The girls are gathered around Marinette

Rose: (joyful and curious) So? How did it go?

Mylène: Did you tell him?

Marinette: Yeah... (awkwardly rubs her arm) I mean— kind of. Basically, I gave him a letter... (The girls start cheering)

Rose: Tell us exactly what you wrote in the letter!

Marinette: (awkwardly) Oh, not much; it's not really important, is it?

Alya: What? How can you say that, girl? (Her and Marinette look shocked as Adrien approaches.)

Adrien: Uh, hey Marinette! (Alya pushes Marinette in front of Adrien.)

Marinette: (squeals nervously) Hey...

Adrien: I was very surprised when I read your letter, but since it seemed to be so important, I spent the whole weekend walking around London looking for it... (holds out a medical bag as the girls shriek in astonishment) ...for you. (Alya helps Marinette get the pharmacist medical bag)

"Aw, man! Why can't anything go right in my Marinette life?!" Marinette asked herself in exasperation while everyone else laughed at her in amusement.

"For my peace of mind, did anything happen between you two at the Royal Wedding in England?" Marinette asked both Adrien and Kagami curiously while also trying to change the subject.

"Nothing really happened, Marinette. I did try to get closer to Adrien, but I could tell his heart has always been set with someone else. Now I know it's you as Ladybug," Kagami answered with a giggle and Marinette giggled back.

Marinette: (embarrassed) Thank you...

Adrien: I'm glad I could help. (walks into the school)

Marinette: Disaster! (collapses)

Alya: Disaster? He had you on his mind all weekend; he even brought back a gift for you!

Rose: (excited) Yeah, what is it?

Alya: Come on! Show us!

Mylène: Open it!

Alix: Open it!

Marinette: No, we're good. (shifts the bag out of the girls' reach as they try to take it) Trust me, you really don't need to open it. (Alix knocks the medical bag into Alya's hands and she opens it.)

Alya: (confused) Constipation capsules?

Marinette: (mortified gasp) Ah, uh I... (bends her head low)

Rose: (sweetly) What a beautiful display of pure love! (The other girls start laughing.)

"WHAT?!" The teens loudly asked Rose as if she was out of her mind. The girl in question just shrugged sheepishly.

"Well, I hope that you reunite with Marianne soon, Master," Angel said sweetly to the old guardian and everyone else gave similar sentiments as well. "The next episode is Reflekdoll which is the name of the sentimonster Juleka used after being re-akumatized back into Reflekta as some of you all might remember." Most of the audience nodded as they all remembered that day.

"That was also the akuma attack where Marinette and I accidentally switched Miraculouses. She got to be Cat Noir and I got to be Ladybug. Or more precisely, Lady Noire and Mr. Bug," Adrien pointed out and everyone else became even more intrigued as the episode started to play.
