The War; Perspectives

"Mother?"

"What is it?" She said, washing the dishes.

"...Do.. You know where father is?"

The mother looked down. "No. I don't know. Don't bother asking anymore."

"..Okay…" Moon drank her milk. After a long silence, she spoke up. "Then.. Good night."

Moon opened her eyes. It was just a long forgotten memory from the past. She sat up, whipping away her tears. It's true, she had always wanted paternal love, afterall her heart was of a child. One that could break easily. Just because she didn't act like a normal child, didn't mean she wasn't one. She always dreamed of having a piggy back ride from a father. A father to protect her and her mother. She was even ready if her mother brought home a step father. She envied the other kid's dad. That hope of fatherly love was just false hope. All she got was.. A stranger.

The king. She didn't have the heart to call him father. The only thing that linked them together were the blood in her veins. It would be better if she had a step father that loved her. He was cold, spoke to her when needed; that one time he directly spoke to her. He ignored the treatment she received, turned a blind eye when she was dragged out of the main palace. He wasn't even there when she was borned. He didn't bother picking her up, SHE had to walk to him. For the past weeks, he ignored her. Was she just a living doll?

"In the past, I had, mother. I said I only needed a mother, I didn't need a father. I said that I'll come back and save mother and I'll take revenge on father. Yet.. She's gone. What's the point now? Now that I learned, my biological dad is the king, what can I even do? I'm useless."

"I guess I still feel hurt. I still have a beating heart. I'm not that strong."

"Good morning princess." Blossom entered the room.

I looked at her. Will she also leave me? "Morning."

It's been about a month since I settled down here. Everything was pretty normal. I ate, slept, studied. A new butler was employed, taking the previous one work. He's normal, nothing to brag about. Yeah sometimes, he can be annoying. Following me, clingy, and asking me questions. As if I knew the answer. Oh yeah, he's nineteen… Still, he's pretty useful. He's like a pet… or a little brother, despite being seven years older.

"I have prepared a bath for you. You look tired. Nightmare?" She pointed out my appearance.

"No.. Old memories."

Finishing the bath, I ate my breakfast. Count Gabriel will be coming. I have a good view on him, he doesn't judge my past like others. Nor does he want to win my favour. He isn't arrogant. He's knowledgeable, overall he's a great teacher. I got lucky.

I went to the study room, waiting for my teacher.

"Count Gabriel arrived." Landon said as he opened the door. Landon is quiet. Sometimes I can't feel his presence. We haven't had a long conversation together. I don't know much about him. But his face is always serious. Carl, my other guard, is also the same, only less serious. I recently found out they were half brothers, each bearing a different surname.

"Greetings Princess Moonlight." He said. "Yes greetings too." I replied.

He set down his books on the table and sat down. "Let's start with chapter 4.5." He opened the book. Something that was distinct of him was his metal hand. His other hand was all red, a scar. It was burnt. His eyes were a deep grey, like mine. I know that he went through a lot.

"I have previously said the history of this world, but only in the human perspective."

"Human perspective?" I asked. There were several stories? Like legends?

"Yeah, there are a lot of different books. Though they cover the same idea, different things are mentioned. The foundation of this world is unknown. Several theories have been passed down."

"Hmm.. Interesting." I was intrigued.

"I do too. It's all a mystery to be solved. I'm getting old, but my brain is still functioning."

He passed an old tome. "This is very interesting, it holds the elves' perspective."

I grabbed it. I'll read this in my free time.

"Today, we'll talk about the Great War, the dark side's perspective. We don't know how the world was created, but we do know about how we lived and used it."

"There were two factions, the dark side and the light side. As you know, humans and others were in the light. The dark side contained any creature who held dark magic, yes some humans too. Summary from the light's perspective, they said that the dark side wanted the whole world for themselves. To rule in chaos. But do you think that that was the case?"

"No." I responded. "Who would want their people to suffer? Unless they were maniacs…"

"Yeah, you are right."

"According to a book, the humans were the one who caused the problem first. They discriminated against the possessors of black magic, racism. Because of the bad treatment, they opted for a war. Unfortunately they lost,so they were all killed, but some lived."

"..." The school I attended never talked about this. The library never carried this secret. It was a taboo, so why is he talking about it now?And..They were killed? Not banished to far away land?

"You know, I came across the palace's library, and discovered a bookshelf filled with these secrets. They are very old, and written with an ancient language." He hinted.

He stood up, and took his case. "That's the end of the lesson. I'll come back next month."

He left.

I looked at his back. It was getting farther and farther. I know he didn't say everything. There were lots of questions. How did he have access to the royal library? How did he understand the ancient language? How did he find the book? He always carried this mysterious air on him.

I shrugged. Even if I'm curious, I know he'll say nothing.

"I should visit the royal palace's library." I should dig up more information.

I'll take a break from the plot, I'll edit the previous chapters bc I just noticed how bad they are... (;-;)
