[Bonus chapter]Toys for all

"Chi-Chi, wake up." Mama Chi went from soft knocking to hard pounding on her door.

Ever since she returned home last night victorious but drained, she had gone straight to bed and had not woken up since. It was coming to noon and still, she was wrapped up tight in her warm blanket like a dumpling.

Mama Chi was adamant to wake her daughter up however a couple of military vehicles had showed up in front of their house. As if the exiting soldiers were not scary enough, the state minister for security had come along with them.

It was the first time in her life to meet an official of the empire up close. All the etiquette that had been instilled in her in those expensive etiquette classes wealthy madams took went flying out of the window. She stammered when greeting the minister and broke a few cups while serving him coffee.

At this moment, all she wanted was for Chi Lian to wrap up her business with the scary man so that her heart could calm down.

Tired of waiting at the door, she pushed it open and pulled the blanket off of her daughter.

An unhappy drowsy Chi Lian with a mess of hair on her head that was like a birds nest woke up. She rubbed her eyes and found her mother eyeing her impatiently.

"I am tired mum; let me sleep a while longer." She whined and fell back on the pillow.

"I will spank your bottom if you don't leave that bed right now Chi-Chi."

"Mmm-mmm-mm_" Chi Lian mumbled into her pillow.

Mama Chi who was not joking went ahead to spank her bottom really hard.

Chi Lian shot up like her bums were on fair, "Why mother? That really hurts." She wailed.

"Go downstairs and greet your visitors' young lady."

While rubbing her bum, she asked, "what visitors?"

"The minister." Her mother whispered extravagantly.

She remembered that he had promised to send someone to pick up the bats yesterday. But why was he here in person? She wondered.

The only possible answer was that the higher ups that he delivered the bat to must have been fascinated by the technology or the concept behind it so now they were considering it a high value technological item that was worth extra security.

"Give me twenty minutes and I will meet him."

Mama Chi smiled and left the room after getting the appropriate answer she was seeking.

True to her word, Chi Lian was out of her bedroom and downstairs within twenty minutes. On her laps was a beautiful Mei-Mei dressed in blue overalls and a yellow flowered shirt.

"Ten bats, just as I promised you." She said to the minister.

"I can count." He snapped softly.

"The empire would appreciate it of course if you were to sell us all the bats in the possession of you and your family or friends." He added.

"The empire has yet to wire my money. Perhaps it should first accomplish that task." She took a sip of her warm tea and smiled.

"I will get on that right away." The minister made a call and a payment was made into her account.

After getting the notification, she carried her daughter and said, "It was nice doing business with you as usual. I hope we can do this again soon."

The minister pursed his thin lips unhappily, "Yes, I hope so as well." His security detail surrounded him and they left the Chi household.

Chi Zimo who had been restlessly waiting for the minister to leave before making his way downstairs approached her while running.

"Sis, where is my bat?" he asked. He held out his hand expectantly.

Chi Lian noticed that the rest of her family was looking at her with the same expectant gaze. Even her father who was rarely interested in new technology was looking at her with shifty eyes.

She went upstairs and came back with one for each of them.

Tagging alongside her was a mini sized hopping toy bunny.

She set Mei-Mei down and the child immediately picked up the bunny.

Mama Chi was the first to spot the bunny, "Why is there a rabbit in the house? It will poop everywhere." She went in the direction they had come from to check for rabbit droppings.

Chi Lian tugged on her shirt, "It's a toy mum. It's not a real bunny."

"Where did you get that from?" Chi Wei asked immediately.

"I invested in a technology lab with a friend of mine so he sends me unique finished technologies once in a while. You will see more innovative items as time goes on." She lied through her teeth with confidence.

Fingers crossed, her little lie would be enough to satisfy their curiosity about the alien technology she would be pulling out every once in a while.

Chi Wei was walking slowly towards Mei-Mei; his greedy eyes were focused on the hopping bunny like a piece of juicy meat. His love for technology had always outweighed pretty much everything else in his life.

The only reason as to why he majored in business rather than technology at the university was because he wanted to help his father in running the family construction business. But that business was now gone. As painful as it was, he finally had a chance to pursue his real interest.

The little hopping mechanical bunny in front of him appeared so life like that he longed to study its mechanism and chip.

"Don't even think about it." Chi Lian tugged him away from her daughter.

"But sis, I just want to take a look and see." He whined.

"What will Mei-Mei play with if you take it away from her?" Papa Chi asked.

The whole family was keeping their eyes on the bunny. It hopped after Mei-Mei in every direction she took.

"How does it know where she is all the time?" Zimo asked.

"It has location software encoded into its chip to track the location of its owner anywhere in the world."

"Whoa. That sounds freakishly amazing. It's like a baby sitter." Chi Rui bent down to pick it up.

"Hmm-mm and it has a camera embedded in its eyeball that I can access so I can know where she is going and what she is doing.

"Sister you are abusing Mei-Mei's rights by spying on her." Chi Zimo shook his head in disapproval.

"Are you a law student?"

"No." he answered.

"Case closed." She said.

As usual, Chi Zimo pouted as if he had been wronged.

"I will put her out in the garden to play." Mama Chi took the bunny away from Chi Rui and carried it outside with Mei-Mei. Papa Chi followed them.

Meanwhile, Chi Lian was jumping up with excitement inside her heart because T4 had just informed her that they had managed to make it level two.

If Chi Lian had known that the more alien technology she got her hands on and sold in this world would be the faster she leveled up, she would have done it already.

"It's not that simple." T4 said.

"I don't care, I just leveled up." Chi Lian ignored him. There would be time for discussion later; right now she was celebrating her win.

One more level up and she could get a permanent health capsule. She would finally be able to sleep without worry.

Because she was in a good mood, she decided to do something she had been planning to do for a long time, "Brothers," she called, "Who wants a new car?" she asked.
