To Rule the World

Lyle is an only child with a somewhat stiff relationship with his dad where they were not too close. His mother had left when he was younger and his dad was the one to take care of him. He was well built and was near average height added with very average looks.

Due to his father's job in the military, he had moved around many times before moving to Korea where he was attending university. He now lives by himself in an apartment nearby his university. Early in the evening, Lyle had just returned a novel series he had finished reading back to the bookstore and was steadily walking before coming near a 7/11.

'It's getting pretty late. I should just get a quick dinner and then study for the upcoming exams.'

He entered the store and had bought some cheap ramen, some sausages, and a beer bottle. Lyle was walking to his apartment with his bag of food until something had caught his attention. He saw a girl being harassed by two older men in a alley between two closed stores. Although Lyle had a military father to raise him, he was not the one to storm over and act like a hero when the odds are against him so he kept his mind calm and decided to slip away and get help until-

"HELP!"

The girl was able to catch him and yelled for help and before she got the chance to say any more than that, one of the men covers her mouth with his hand and both looked vigilantly towards Lyle.

'Why does the voice sound so familiar?'

Now that Lyle was caught he looked back to get a better look at the situation unfolding.

'Isn't that my classmate Hoshizora Nigiyaka?'

Although they were deep in the alley where the streetlight barely shone on them, Lyle was quite sure it was his classmate. Hoshizora was very beautiful and she was very active with clubs, so she was popular and liked by many people. But now she's currently about to be taken advantage of in a alley.

What she was doing there in the first place, Lyle wouldn't know but since Lyle was already caught he decided to go for it. As he was walking towards the scene, the other older man not doing anything starts walking slowly towards Lyle while putting his hand into his coat pocket seemingly reaching for something and says

"I'll give you this one chance to walk away and act like you didn't see anything here."

Lyle felt pressured but decided to keep waking closer to them. The older man pulls out a knife and points it to Lyle,

"Take one more step I swea-ARGH"

Before he could finish what he was saying, his partner let out a groan. The knife-wielding older man turned back and found that his partner was kneeling while holding his hand that had a chunk of flesh off while being kicked by Hoshizora. Taking this chance when the man was unfocused, Lyle took out the beer bottle from his bag and smashed it onto the man's head, knocking him seemingly unconscious.

Lyle then let go of his bag and wrestled the other man to the ground and started beating him. Hoshizora swiftly ran off, after beating the man for a few minutes, Lyle got up to leave. But then Lyle realizes something was wrong because he felt a stinging pain in his back. Lyle slowly turned back to see the other man smiling and he pushes knife deeper before pulling it out and stabbing Lyle again.

Lyle then fell to the ground as the man continues to quickly stab him a few more times until he stopped to carry his partner and leave. Now Lyle was barely conscious with his life barely holding on by a thread as he laid on the ground.

As his life was fading away he started thinking, 'Damn, this is what I get for trying to be a be a good person', and as everything around him turned blurry as he was about to shut his eyes and go into enternal slumber, he was able to catch a glimpse of a screen that popped up.
