"I don't know something is odd about how she died. Her neck wasn't broken but it appears to be crushed. On the side of her neck, I saw two round holes resembling to look like fangs or some sorta sharp pointed teeth." I finally just told him. He first looked at me weirdly before bursting out into laughter. "Fangs like a vampire?" He teased and I should've seen this coming. I burst into a hard enough uproar to pee myself. "You are so mean!" I chuckled. "Alright, I'll be nice to my vampire nerd," he said winking at me. "You haven't found anybody else that lived in the city?" He asked just wondering. "Oddly enough, we haven't," I shared. Yet Orlando does it again. "Yup, that definitely sounds like a vampire to me!" 24-year-old Victoria Perkins is a trainee archeologist and paleontologist. **Ch 376: Love Conquers

Rex wasn't wrong there, Kai reckoned, because he had roughly eighty-six clan members, whereas Rex had over a hundred in his clan. So he could only imagine how enormous his Coven was. Although Chester alone had well over a hundred clan members as well, and their Coven was massive too.

"Your Clan may outnumber mine, but unlike you, my Coven is helping me," Kai hissed.

"Last I've checked, your Coven wasn't looking too good against my Clan," Rex disparaged him.

"Hunters are always prideful before they fall. You've already lost one advisor. It's only a matter of time before you're next." Kai rudely derided him.

"What you call pride, I call confidence," Rex smirked, unaffected by Kai's invective remark.

Kai furrowed his eyebrows. "I must've mistaken Savannah's pride for confidence before her mordacious smart mouth was sewn shut. My bad," he remarked, playing his card to provoke Rex's anger, which worked a little too well because his mirth altered to madness.

In the blink of an eye, Rex shot up from the chair and tackled Kai to the floor. "Where's my Savannah!" he pinned Kai on his back and punched his jaw. "I'll detain you all!"

Amidst Rex's outrage, Kai kicked his legs up from underneath him and flipped Rex up over his head, and he harshly landed on his back, which presented Kai with the opportunity to flip onto his feet.

"You'll get what you deserve for taking my pregnant wife!" Kai hissed, and then he launched on top of him. They clawed at each other until Rex threw Kai towards the left, where his spine hit against the lower bed frame. The smell of Victoria's blood and her pain fueled him in the wrong way. Once Rex got up on his feet, Kai drove his body into him like a bumper car. Glass shattered as Rex was forcefully thrashed through the long window.

With a rather harsh landing, his body whumped onto the ground, making his bones crack with a louder crunch. The fall alone would kill a man, but Rex stood up and popped his broken jawbone back into the joint. His shattered ribs and broken collarbone were repaired like new, and his broken arm became strong after he flicked the broken bones straight like a leather whip.

Afterward, Rex's eyes glanced at what bestowed before him, and he watched as the battle was raging on. John's clan had joined the fight, and Chester's son-in-law had brought in his clan to help as well.

Strong lightning currents zapped between Ace and Lucas as they struck each other with swords that were made from electricity. Ace and Lucas would twirl their bodies like mighty samurai warriors, with the way they collided their swords against each other as loud electrical surges would strike voltages of lightning along the premises. Each time their swords struck together, lightning would spark from the impact. Bolts of lightning would bounce through the yard. Some bolts of lightning would detain the vampires from either side whenever they struck through whoever's body with such vibrancy.

Catching Rex's attention, he swerved after Kai leaped to his level to fight him. On cue, Rex and Kai extended their curled claws as they growled viciously. But then Rex froze when he saw a recognizable figure soaring his way from within the sky that Henry had tossed.

Thrown at Rex's feet, Savannah's detained body was given to him by Henry before he could attack Kai. But that didn't stop Kai from slamming into him like a football player. With their fangs gritting, they rolled and whumped against the grass and rocks that susurrated underneath their bodies as they rolled along until Kai got the upper hand by pinning Rex against the ground. Kai hissed whenever he slashed his claws into his chest while Rex traversed his arm movements to protect himself from each blow.

"I forfeit!" Rex loudly announced right before Kai's sharp claws could strike him again.

Using some force, he knocked Kai off him before they stood as the battle around them began to ease from fighting. According to the laws of the Vampire Oath, if a forfeit gets called, both rivals have no choice but to negotiate their terms peacefully. Otherwise, if they didn't, the Vampire Covenant could detain both Alphas for treason for disrespecting their rules and way of life.

After a breath, Rex declared his terms, "I get everyone back who has been detained in my clan as you do as well, including Victoria."

"Give me my wife and everyone else in my Coven, and it's a deal," Kai confirmed. "But be warned, if I ever catch you back on this planet, I will come after you, and we will finish what you started without a forfeit."

"Understood. Now allow me to get her," Rex affirmed, and then he flew away.

Kai watched as he opened a portal before Lucas proceeded through it. Minutes later, he returned, and Kai's eyes gaped to see his wife lying limply asleep in his arms. Being rather gentle, Lucas gave him Victoria. Kai crouched to his knees on the ground as he cradled her in his arms. Only a sheet covered her nakedness, and she was all banged up and barely alive. Kai gnashed his fangs because of the poor condition she was left in. If it wasn't for the oath, he would've detained them all.

"If she dies, you will face my wrath!" Kai hissed, and Rex did not remark as he held Savannah on the ground across from him.

To most, it would be deemed that Rex loved her more than he realized. Through his eyes, Victoria couldn't be compared to the love he felt for Savannah. Love conquered the greedy Alpha, and Rex understood what he did was wrong because he knew how Kai felt. Never once has Savannah ever been detained, so Rex couldn't bear to see her like this.

"For my uncalled-for mistake, Victoria has my vote," Rex sincerely whispered as he looked Kai straight in the eyes because he meant what he said.

There were no words that could be spoken. Kai was furious beyond belief, but there was one important thing Grandpa Vlad and his dad had taught him, which was to know his enemies, and right now, Rex showed his empathy towards him. Officially, he knew Rex was driven by instincts as a Hunter, and Victoria became his prey. It was the trait of being a Hunter species, but it didn't excuse Rex from his actions with what he did to his wife. Kai reckoned as his eyes didn't stop narrowing at him.

"Get Victoria to the hospital, and I'll take care of this forfeit," Chester commanded, breaking the silence.

Since Kai was his little brother, it was only right that Chester took charge of the situation.

One more chapter after this one. I do hope you aren't disappointed in how it ended between Rex and Kai, but this chapter partly shows how the Vampire Covenant had set these fair rules and guidelines as their Kinds have thrived in the worlds. The second novel will explore more details on how the Vampire Covenant works, but it won't be right away. Unanswered questions will be answered throughout the next novel. If you feel anything is left unanswered, feel free to let me know.
