When Kain had obtained a map with the known locations of the most dangerous spiritual creatures in the forest, he had made a conscious decision to give all of their territories a wide berth.
'So please tell me why an orange-grade spiritual beast is here.'
The White Widow Spider was likely the mother of the partially dissected Venom Spinner at his feet.
Kain wanted to cry, the corpse he was looking at with affection before now a source of resentment.
'Why the hell did you run so far away from home?! If you want to be a naughty child, don't drag me down with you.'
Kain would have kicked the corpse in anger if its mother was not staring him down currently.
'I need to distract it and get out of here. What can I use to delay it for even just a few seconds?'
Although it pained Kain to damage his valuable prize after a long battle, He had already obtained the most valuable poison sac, and his life was more precious than any materials.
He took a lighter from his space ring, as well as some otter fur covered in oils.
'I had found the River Otter's fur to be oily and gross when I first obtained it. Now it may just save my life.'
He put the match to the fur and quickly tossed it on the spider corpse at his feet before dashing away.
Screeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
As the spider dashed forward to try and put out the flames covering its child, Kain immediately ran towards his destination. Not the river like usual, he had wandered further away from it as he hunted and he'd probably get caught before getting there.
Instead, he ran towards the caves he had first found Bea in.
The walls of the tunnels, although spacious to Kain, it should not be able to fit inside.
Entering what was originally his exit after finding Bea, Kain took out a flashlight and dashed towards the very first cavern that the turtle had dropped him at. It was the only other exit he knew of.
Although, he didn't think he was a strong enough swimmer to leave through there previously, he had no other choice now. Hopefully, his improved physique due to the contract and higher spiritual power would be enough to get him away.
Crash
Seconds after entering Kain could hear that the spider had also arrived at the entrance of the tunnel.
From the sounds of it she was trying to forcefully squeeze her body in, even if it risked collapsing the tunnel on them both.
'So fast! Despite getting a huge head start, I only arrived here seconds before she did'
Thankfully squeezing into the tunnel also slowed her down greatly, allowing Kain to remain just out of her reach.
When Kain saw the light from the cavern up ahead he pumped his legs even harder, before dashing into the pool of water. Narrowly missing the swipe from a leg behind him as he leaped.
